Will we soon rewrite textbooks on our place in the universe? (UFO/UAP's)

Over the last century, we have seen an exponential increase in the understanding of the physical universe. International observatories on Earth and in space have produced magnificent images spanning the full range from the small scale of black holes to the large-scale structure of the entire observable universe. Now, we are in the midst of a discovery of even greater magnitude, but few are even acknowledging it. And incredibly, it is what many regard as the modern icon of quack science – unidentified objects, traditionally labeled UFOs, that may represent technological equipment manufactured by an advanced extraterrestrial civilization.

Almost overnight UFOs have gained acceptance by the government and some in academia as worthy of scientific study. With this shift came a new label from the U.S. military: unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Now, they are increasing the target of dedicated research, including Harvard University’s Galileo Project in search for extraterrestrial equipment near earth as well as Stanford University's independent research program on unusual materials. They are also the reason behind the establishment of a new office in the Pentagon charged with establishing a science plan to:

1) Account for characteristics and performance of UAP that exceed known science or technology, including propulsion, aerodynamics, materials, sensors, countermeasures, weapons, electronics and power generation

2) Provide the foundation for possible investments to replicate these advanced characteristics and performance

In fact, this language is the direct result of members of Congress including it in the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act.

All this has stemmed from three videos of UAPs captured by Navy pilots and officially released by the Pentagon in 2020.

All of the "issues" in your links are related to long duration stays. The Apollo astronauts stayed just a few hours. If you read those technical documents you would understand that perspective.

How did the laser retro-reflectors get on the moon?

On this link do a word search for “laser”:

The light from the laser must be focused through the telescope when sent. Nevertheless, the light hitting the reflector has spread quite a bit, so only a small portion is returned to earth. By the time the light returned it fell in a 12 mile dia circle. Only one photon would be picked up by the telescope, so photo-multiplier tubes were required.

The article is not accurate, since it still works today. Not many are interested enough to use their telescopes on it.

All said and done, that article is an admission that the reflectors are there.

Me too—we will know soon enough—lets see if the Chinese can get it done.

The US private contractors are stuck in gridlock as long as they are depending on NASA.

We have solid common ground there. Space must go private, or it will stagnate and get stupid. Muslim outreach my ass.

Just an interesting note on where my views came from (even though you disagree with them)...

In the early days of FR we were busy investigating the Vince Foster “suicide”.

One of the folks on the ground in DC posted here and had a lot of fascinating details and insight. He seemed able to “get inside the heads” of DC insiders and figure out why they lied and how they lied.

I eventually had the opportunity to meet with him and visit some of the relevant locations.

At one point I said to him “This coverup is like a magic trick, isn’t it?”

He laughed and said “You haven’t asked me how I make my living.”

I said “Good point—I will bite—How do you make your living?”

He laughed and said “I am a magician.”

It turned out he did magic shows for children’s parties all over metro DC.

Magic trickery is the key to any coverup—the same template is used over and over...

That was why this one guy was way ahead of the curve...

UFOs are just a distraction, if aliens arrive, we’ll know.

Since they have been here a long time and look just like us after their genetic research, the only persons using this argument are the aliens themselves.

You've been revealed!!

I’ve had breakfast with Frank Borman, and then exchanged mail from time to time. He related his Apollo flight experience with me. My younger brother worked day-to-day with Neil Armstrong, Gene Cernan, Allen Bean, and Pete Conrad. We have the inside view of those who were there.

I will relate something I learned from Frank Borman. He said words to the effect: "Once you have done something like that, there is nothing that can best it. Astronauts are fighter jocks, adrenaline junkies. Life now seems mundane, boring."

My brother heard similar remarks from the other guys.

They are on fire when they talk to you about the Apollo mission. People who "faked it" wouldn't feel that way.

There is no actionable component with respect to my life.
***There could be. If one of them lands in front of you while you’re driving across Utah, there are some things you might get away with, and some things you might not want to do. One dude in Montana pulled out his shotgun and tagged one of the occupants. 2 days later he was visited by guys flashing DIA credentials asking about the incident — but he had told NO ONE. You might be able to gain some notoriety by getting a ride on one, like that Travis guy who got a movie made from it. Jesse Marcel kept some of his pieces of flying saucer and his grandson sent them in to Art Bell. They were called “Art’s Parts”. That was when I was working graveyard shift listening to Art’s stupidity, so I logged onto ArtBellFans and made a prediction about what those parts would consist of: Mostly aluminum, some kind of alloy, all available here on the earth, and that the material would be SINTERIZED. All of my predictions came true. I debated the whole ArtBellFans list and turned one of them into a convert, a guy calling himself MJ-SETI, and ArtBellFans was never the same after that.

I am finished discussing this with you because I’ve already wasted too much of my life on this crap already.
***It’s too bad you don’t wanna learn about the intricacies of high speed boundary layer control. You prefer to remain inside your own ignorance because it’s fun to fantasize about it.

The trick is going to be mining asteroids. The first one will turn several people into trillionaires. Then after that it will be a new kind of gold rush. For a few hundred years, mining will be the driving force in space exploration.

Then watch out.

Hold on there, Kemosabe, that's a different subject altogether! Of course, I'd go for that.

There were real Apollo missions—the astronauts were truly extraordinary men, and they did amazing things given the technology of the day.

However....

The Apollo 11 post mission press conference shows a different perspective:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI_ZehPOMwI

It is a long video, but the body language of the astronauts speaks for itself....if you put in on mute you can get the best “feel” for it.

The “debunkers” say that the poor astronauts were tired and that was the reason for their lack of enthusiasm.

I recall that boundary layer control is the principle behind fluidic valves and gates. The same can be used to control aircraft. Gas can be released in strategically placed orifices on wings to reshape airflow, changing dynamic pressure or drag. That can be used instead of movable control surfaces.

Then read the book and come up to speed on suction, sinterization, boundary layer control, and the Combined Intelligence Objectives Subcommittee on WW2 technical spoils of war.

cgbg, you haven’t been paying attention to SpaceX lately, have you?

They are getting things done that NASA never could do, and in 10% of the time. Why land a rocket and re-use it, when you can just get the taxpayers to buy you another one.

When it comes to [anything] the private sector does it faster and cheaper.

Elon Musk will have us back on the moon in a couple of years.

See the article linked in post 159.

Elon Musk is depending on NASA for some critical elements of a manned moon landing.

He will have to totally decouple from them to make it happen.
