I have a few Colts but I prefer Smith and Wesson.

When I was in the market for a 44 mag in the eighties, I read a lot of owners manuals.

The S&W pistols had a notation: Magnum loads not recommended.

Ruger had no such language in their owners manual.

I called them up and they said: Honey, shoot anything you want.

I got about 14k full house rounds through my Redhawk. (I am a reloader).

How Colt Became America's Chosen Firearm...

Given how opinionated (& ornery ;>) gun owners tend to be, I imagine most folks have different 'chosen' firearms. For me, they are often the ones I've built myself...

I have several colts..... Defender, 1943 USGI Colt 1911A1, Reissue WWI 1911, 1973 Colt SP1 and a LE6920. I have more even S&W, all of them revolvers. Love them all but I think I prefer the S&W revolvers over Colt revolvers...
