Rampaging monkeys kill 250 dogs in India in revenge massacre
NY Post ^ | December 17, 2021 | Gabrielle Fonrouge

In a small Indian village, a pack of murderous monkeys have started a war with the local canines.

Around 250 dogs have been dragged to the tops of buildings and trees and dropped by a crew of raging primates that are apparently furious with the pups after they killed one of their babies, local media reported.

Locals in Maharashtra’s Beed district, about 300 miles east of Mumbai, told News 18 the monkeys have been on a quest for revenge and in the nearby Lavool village, not a single dog has survived the purge.

Villagers told the outlet the killings started about a month ago when a few dogs killed an infant monkey and since then, the moment a dog is spotted, simians are apparently snatching up the pups and dragging them somewhere high to drop them to their deaths.

In one image of the animal war, a tiny dog can be seen in the clutches of a primate near the edge of a building.

The villagers decided to take action themselves and tried to wrangle up the beasts, but the simians then turned their sights on the local men, some of whom have been injured after falling from buildings while trying to save the dogs, the outlet said.

Nearly all of the pups in the Beed district have been killed, but the monkeys still haven’t stopped and are now targeting small children en route to school.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who hates monkeys.

In the film Time After Time (1978) loosely based on H G Wells, the time traveler sees a modern day coin newspaper rack and the headline Rams Maul Bears or something for a football game mystifies him. Funny. Our real life has become worse.

Years ago, a lady named Charla Nash was attacked by a friend’s chimpanzee. At the time, I was acquaintances with her brother. I had seen the news feed and contacted him, immediately. He tied me in to the daily email to friends and family, per what happened and Charla’s progress. It was all horrifying. Charla lost her eyes and fingers to that effing monster. Now, after this story, I’m all in on monkey hunting.

Not sure about India but there is "The Monkey King" in Chinese mythology.

I am working through "Journey to the West" and Sun Wukong is just the best.

“...a pack of murderous monkeys have started a war with the local canines.”
“...are apparently furious with the pups after they killed one of their babies,”

Sounds like the “pups” started it.

Cujo may have something to say about that.

I'm guessing the monkeys would leave the neighborhood bully kutta alone - any dog breed known as the beast of the east is probably best not agitated.

You are reading about a small scale reenactment of how, over a long period, early hominids created a “hominid safe space” for themselves and their children. They did that by creating an exclusion zone that only permitted dangerous creatures they could contain or, at minimum, control/manage the threat. For example, bears are managed in rural housing settings but are captured/relocated and/or killed in denser suburban or urban settings. The higher the probability of an uncontrolled interaction, the greater the likelihood of forceful and, usually, fatal removal.

As long as they were just a cute nuisance, monkeys are tolerated by the villagers. But dogs are way more useful than monkeys, so killing the dogs off decreases the monkey’s cuteness toleration factor to near zero. The monkeys are incapable of realizing that their vengeance without apparent limit against the dogs and now threatening young children will result in their own extermination.

Smart but not smart enough.

Maybe the p*ssy GOP can hire the monkey leaders so they can learn to go medieval on the Dems like they should.

LOL!

I guess when I did that when I was like two years old, it was probably a marking behavior.

I of course was too young to explain that to my Mom in an articulate way when she saw my wall paintings one day.

Remember...first move in any situation like this:

Get a LAWYER!

One of my Dad’s WWII stories was about camp life in the Philippines.
The troops would tidy up their tents for inspection and line up outside. While they were waiting for the CO to inspect his tent, the monkeys would sneak in and tear the place apart.
Of course, they wouldn’t know it until the CO walked in…..🤬

I trust nothing outside of my own personal circle but I do think the way things are going are “unsustainable”.
