The U.S. Postal Service pursued a project to build and secretly test a blockchain-based mobile phone voting system before the 2020 election, experimenting with a technology that the government’s own cybersecurity agency says can’t be trusted to securely handle ballots.
Matt Masterson, who was then a senior adviser to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the federal government’s chief liaison to state and local election officials, said he was never aware of the Postal Service program while in office.
CISA declined to comment for this story.
The Postal Service was awarded a public patent for the concept in August 2020, but had not previously revealed that it built a prototype system or tested it.

Good thing I don’t work there. “PA” mail would all be lost.
And yes, the exam I saw was for entry level unskilled workers. It was not really fair to imply that they USPS workers are all (or even some) at the level where that's a challenge for them. I took a liberty of using that as an extreme case to illustrate that the USPS is not an R&D or technology organization. If they are doing it internally I'll argue that they are not suited for that sort of work. If they are paying a contractor to develop the tech than it should be subject to oversight, it effects everyone.
Anyway I should have listened to my instinct that someone would read my comment to mean that I'm mocking postal workers as dumb and not posted it. That's not what I believe, it was more about the mission, goals, and priorities of the overall USPS organization being non-technical in nature.
That must be a fun field to work in. I bet you guys can write your own tickets these days. Good for you!
I read thru the patents about a year and a half ago. If i were to build it i would not publicize it either. I think the block chain rumors came from reading the patents as they use block chain for some type of voting security. And yes unlike the mrna gene therapy you want to thoroughly test the system. And no one who works for the government could write this software. They can’t even run the dominion systems.
Wonder if increased sales of frequency jammers will ensue last price I saw for one was $1200?.
The downside is that a lot of people are just looking for a "get rich quick" cryptocurrency opportunity, and that drives a lot of the investment attention.
There it is folks. No problem with this at all.
Real Republicans should act. Here's the proposal to make the USPS liquid again. Since the constitution provides the power to create post offices and post roads (plural) we'll stick with the letter of the document. The USPS can have post offices only in Manly Hot Springs, AK and Thoroughfare, WY. Official post roads will be designated as a 1-mile segment of the Alcan Highway and since I am from PA (need to bring home the pork) a half-mile segment of a dirt road northwest of Slate Run, PA going up the mountain and crossing over into Cameron County. The only thing else left to do is privatize the rest of mail delivery.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT??
IIRC the beast once said, “buy one, get one free”?
—”Unless they drastically changed the test…”
Henry Hyde stopped buy our local PO...
Seeing one mailsorter moving like a fast card shuffler!
Tells the worker we need to study how you are so fast and teach your method, any idea how you became so fast?
He replied, not missing a letter, “Just soon as I learn to read, I be really fast”
Even electronic voting machines could require authentication via sms to log the number and person voting.
Right now there's no effective way to trace a ballot back to a voter. What tests there are (such as keeping the signed ballot envelope) are ignored.
—”wishing to read the original article and bypass msn “
Actually, I looked around to bypass the Washington Post.
Name your poison?
Once upon a time website traffic was a metric for ad rates...
If the WP disappeared, MSN would have nothing to post.
If they would put real estate transactions on the block chain, imagine the savings in Title insurance alone.
A search would be immediate and immutable.
Yes, the focus on the “sh-t coins” drives me crazy most days. The technology is fascinating.
—”And no one who works for the government could write this software. They can’t even run the dominion systems.”
Simply not true.
Yes, public service workers have many malingers, drinkers, drugs... Just like any large org.
The company I worked for occasionally worked for USPS.
Many good people.
Some of the best of the best were with the US Postal Inspectors.
I mostly worked with large university and corporate research labs. More than a few Nobel nominees.
The US Postal Inspectors I worked with were clearly a cut above. And being knowledgeable across a wide spectrum.
Most know that POs have an enclosed catwalk with a separate door for the inspectors. Hopefully, they can come and go undetected.
At the USPS Chicago Metro Hub (huge)a mile of the catwalk.
There was a slim but real possibility that some equipment under some circumstances might betray the presence of an inspector. The equipment was only near a catwalk.
And they were on it like white on rice.
After seeing that, I watched them every chance.
Very helpful and watching that nothing we did impinged on their mission.
Very good people, underestimate them at your peril.
This will make Soros’ job a heck of a lot easier...
I didn’t say they were not nice or productive people. They can’t write of manage software. like male and female different people. It takes geeks to run software. and the government doesn’t hire geeks, they outsource them. but they can’t out source voting systems.
Simply not true.>>> yes true. The Fulton county PA assessment proves that the entire state of PA the systems are actually run by dominion. the locals cannot manage the complexity of the software for the two times a year and the resources they have. It is a fact not an opinion.
read the “assesment” here.
https://www.co.fulton.pa.us/files/elections/Fulton%20County%20PA%20EMS%20Assessment%202-19-2021.pdf
Just as likely someone in the county has a deep and thorough understanding of the system and used it for their own ends.
If it were a DUMB mistake, would not tend to favor in one direction?
Possible, not probable.
