Scores of people were killed late Monday after a tanker transporting gasoline exploded in Cap-Haitien, Haiti's second largest city, according to Haiti officials.
The death toll currently stands at 54, according to the local civil protection agency. Dozens more are injured and in hospital. Medical officials have issued a public appeal for blood donations, a civil protection agency spokesperson told CNN.

Spent the summer of 1980 in that town. Sickness and poverty in abundance. Also beauty and tarantulas.

Unfortunately, the U.S. response will be to import as many of the ‘survivors’ as possible onto the U.S. welfare-for-life system.
Those pouring over the border will be deemed “fleeing poverty, crime and disaster” and lavished with benefits and perks.

And we charitably do not ask how the ‘leak’ came to be.
How long has Haiti (and others, I suppose) been importing gasoline and we've never heard of such a disaster before ?
Have they been SO careful before that it is a fair guess they have/had safety pretty much down pat ..... and if so .... what happened THIS time ?
