Anne Rice, the gothic novelist widely known for her bestselling novel “Interview with the Vampire,” died late Saturday at the age of 80.
Rice died due to complications from a stroke, her son Christopher Rice announced on her Facebook page and his Twitter page.
“In her final hours, I sat beside her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and her courage,” Christopher Rice wrote in the statement.
Anne Rice was the author of the 1976 novel “Interview with the Vampire,” which was later adapted into a movie starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in 1994. It was also expected to be portrayed in a TV series on AMC and AMC+ in 2022.

Just announced in the past hour or so.
I met her once. She signed my 1976 copy of interview.
I lost interest in her books after my teen years.
An interview she had given?
It was an old book I bought, “interview with the vampire”. The book was older than me.
Did she not move to LA about ten years ago?
I must be old. Everybody seems to be dying.
She died of stroke complications. Hmmm...
She got her second Moderna shot April 12th according to her Twitter post.
And the question- vaxed or not?
Did the Vax nudge her along into eternity or just old age expiration date?
She was 80 years old, a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic, who in ’98 fell into a coma, caused by diabetic ketoacidosis, and nearly died. She had gastric bypass surgery in ‘03 and lost over 100 lbs. but nearly died from an intestinal blockage. She had been a heavy drinker, a self-admitted alcoholic but quit drinking in the late 70’s to spare her son the childhood she had had with her own alcoholic mother.
Shocking that such a person might die of a stroke at age 80.
Why would a vampire need to be vaxxed?
Depends on what caused the stroke.
Based on that medical history, it is surprising that she made it to 80.
“Vaxxed or not” doesn’t the age factor into anything?
Except Keith Richards of course.
I'm of the opinion that all those drugs he took converted to formaldehyde,, and that is the reason he is preserved.
Have read that she also wrote some very x rated fantasy books, but then repented and very publicly became a born again Christian. At which time she seemed to no longer be a media darling, and I never saw any stories about her until now.
