The NHS's vaccine passport service went offline this evening, just hours after Boris Johnson said the controversial safety measure would be compulsory to access night clubs.
The Prime Minister announced on Wednesday evening the imposition of Plan B measures to control the spread of the Omicron variant.
Along with urging people to wear masks and work from home wear possible, the PM said vaccine passports would be needed to get in to night clubs and other large venues.
But users who tried to access their pass on the NHS's website were greeted with a 'please try again later' notice this evening.
A message added: 'There are currently issues with accessing the Covid Pass on the NHS App and website. We are investigating the issue and will update as soon as we can'.
The NHS's official twitter account also announced the issue shortly before 8pm.
At a Downing Street press conference, Mr Johnson said vaccine passports are being brought in for larger events and nightclubs, so that people can prove they are double-jabbed.
Venues include those indoors that are unseated with more than 500 people, unseated outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people and any venue hosting more than 10,000 people.

Maybe they really meant ‘wear.’
Working from home, who knows if you are clothed?
Sounds like the NHS IT dept is equally inept.
The IT Crowd should be called in.
Hopefully its a coordinated sabotage and will repeat regularly!!
I hope this system is constantly hacked. Mess up the database, Denial of Service attacks, constant and neverending monkeywrenching, not just the NHS one, but those of every damn nation, city or state that tries this crap.
