HELEN, Ga. (WXIA) - A Georgia grandmother and her 6-year-old granddaughter were kicked out of their hotel room in the middle of the night after providing a three-star review, out of five, of the business.
Susan Leger, 63, and her 6-year-old granddaughter were ready for bed on the first night of what was supposed to be a three-night stay in September at the Baymont Inn & Suites in the resort town of Helen, Georgia.
At 8:40 p.m., her cell phone rang. It was the hotel manager, Danny Vyas, saying he had called police and they had to leave the room.
“The man is screaming at me. He was saying, ‘You get out now. I call the police,’” Leger said. “My granddaughter’s like clinging to my leg and crying so hard. This was scary. This was just horrifying.”
Vyas called 911 after Leger responded to an email from Hotels.com asking how she was enjoying her room. The grandmother gave the hotel three stars out of five and listed some complaints, writing, “Rundown. Pool’s not open. Toilet doesn’t flush well.”
During the 911 call, Vyas can be heard telling the dispatcher, “We are getting ready to refund because they have reviewed that the room is dirty and the place is rundown.”
“He was basically saying, ‘You get out… You lie. You gave me bad review.’ And I’m just sitting there going, ‘Oh my gosh, is this a prank call?’” Leger said.
But Leger soon received a knock on her door from an officer with the Helen Police Department. He told her she and her granddaughter had to leave.
“‘They can truly kick me out for giving a review of three out of five?’ And he says, ‘Yes, ma’am. It’s within the law,’” Leger said.

There should be a mass organized boycott of this Indian piece of crap.
The biggest problem, imho, was the police.
Thanks. Interesting. and disturbing
This is how they do things in India where the manager should have stayed 🤪
These people come to the US from a low economic position in their home country and work very hard to succeed in the US. They aren’t here to get welfare like a lot of illegals coming across the southern border. They found a profession they are good at (just like my Irish ancestors were good at digging ditches and then moving up to farming here in Indiana).

Go online and leave a review.
That granny sure does have a manly look about her, at least in my opinion.
with feet.
Their Yelp page is burning up with posts about this story.
They were already checked into the room....LOL!
You get out of bed and get out now yankee!
Yeah..you’re right.
I agree. It would seem to me, that when staying in a hotel/motel there is a contract between the owner/ manager and the customer. If the customer has paid..( ie credit card charged) under what terms can the hotel just kick someone out in the middle of the night. For leaving a bad review? really?
They’re screwed and grandma is going to get a big settlement.
There is something we are not being told. They say grandma, we think little old lady with blue hair in a bun with long skirt and an apron. What does the fact that the woman has a second generation of offspring have to do with anything other than to evoke sympathy? Then there’s the swarthy innkeeper. Naturally the one with darker skin is the villain. They try to stoke racism by selecting the facts then cry that America is racist when people express agreement. Read the comments above. Nearly everyone takes the side of the dear sweet little old lady with a cane or a walker. I have grandchildren and I don’t go around calling myself a 60 year old grandpa.
I hope they can sue for lots. This is outrageous.
It is possible, considering the hotel is a dump.
Yes this happened to a wealthy friend both Freeper Kenny Bunk and I sailed with. Unusual story.
He pulled his boat out of the water at a marina in Urbanna, Virginia, owned by a guy named Mullins. I remember the name because while we were there Mullins fired the guy who ran the dock, who was pretty much the only guy there who knew what he was doing. Mullins was a funeral director or something, but very rich and very proud of HIS marina. It was like the Eagle’s Nest with him pacing back and forth, or the Berchtesgarten or whatever.
Anyway this was all small town stuff and very funny for the few days we were there, but at one point this Mullins guy was actually yelling at Kenny, who was just crew along with me, for “trespassing on the docks” because he was “crew,” not the owner. Kenny wasn’t even smoking or drinking or anything, just basically standing admiring the view.
“You are allowed to walk from YOUR BOAT to the YARD - NOT WALK AROUND!” So Kenny was very nice and polite but it was like we had wound up in an SS Kriegsmarina or something with Nurse Cratchett.
At that time ours was by far the biggest boat at that little marina and we thought this guy was on drugs or something. We got the hell out of there and back to our jobs but the boat stayed on and came out the hard, and we had stories to tell about the marina from hell.
The point of the story is -
The last we heard was that the marina hadn’t put jack stands on the boat properly... (They basically hold the boat up, like a cradle,)
And when our pal the owner who had gone out there to winterize complained that his boat was about to fall over, could they please fix the stands...
Instead of fixing the jack stands... They KICKED HIM OUT OF THE MARINA. Just dropped this huge sailing yacht into the water - about the biggest boat their lift could handle - and told him to go away.
In Tucson we read reviews of this restaurant and cracked up. The owner apparently yelled at many of the customers and threw them out with many shouting matches in the parking lot. Well, there was a lot of those and he eventually had to close.
Well, let’s see. Setting aside the seeming rotten egg in the GA. story, from the Buffalo News’ article we read these Indians have succeeded by working hard, setting goals and being focused, being willing to get their hands dirty, and rely heavily on family support.
How disturbing.
