C’mon, man. There are no dairy farms and processing plants in NY State? Anywhere? NY is ideal climate for Holsteins. They thrive there.

I guess there is no alternative. Something drastic must be done.

Guess I’m deprived. I really don’t have a good idea what “cream cheese” is. Not a foodstuff I encounter. And barely know what bagel is. Not commonly seen out here.

Well its a huge deal, especially in NY.
Also for dips and snacks.
But I seriously do not see how this can be. I thought it was a domestic product.

“Heinz say they’ve seen a 35 per cent spike in demand for cream cheese in recent months, when grilled by the Times about the ongoing shortage.
They also site the ongoing supply chain shortage, which has seen products run out due to issues including a shortage of truck drivers, and shortages of other vital staff due to COVID vaccine mandates that many have refused to comply with.”

Cream cheese is pretty darn easy to make.
Get off your arses and do it yourself. May even be better and increase your business.

That’s probably not a viable solution. They produce bagels, not thousands of pounds of cream cheese. They would have to buy equipment and lease more space, for one. Besides, they would still depend on distribution to get the ingredients. Should they also keep their own cows out back?
I suggest reading “l, Pencil,” an essay by Leonard Read.

You’re just a negative Nancy. None of what you said is correct in the case of cream cheese for bagels.

How many month's supply is prudent, given that it's a dairy product that SPOILS?
With a blaring headline, another media stampede begins. I won't bite.

For a New Yorker, this is like that scene from Airplane 2.
“Miss, is there something you’re holding back from us?”
“Yes, we’re out of coffee.”
