A Young lady had contact with a friend who’d had contact with an alleged infected person. Police cameras caught her scooter tag leaving friends house.
First contact undercover cops in plain clothes to remain discrete and the saga goes on from there...
This is a direct result of Australian "Contact Tracing", and leads directly to her internment.

Hi Holly, might understand understand your son saying they were “trailers”. But maybe, they have something just for overnight visitors in trailers? Was he at an airport? These NT facilities are more like motel rooms. One thing in Oz is that a lot of facilities in rural areas are made of metal and do look like trailers, but many rural motels and even some resorts in the bush look like these. Our state governments are crazy, and the left ones like Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia are even crazier I am surprised myself, though how terrified Aussies are over Covid. A lot had to do with the far left media and the state governments scaring people to death. A lot of Americans also automatically think our government is "liberal/leftist" because the Liberal Party is conservative like the Republicans. They combined with the more conservative Party called the National Party (lots of rural areas and farmers) and and are known as the "Coalition" They have been in power for 3 terms, but look (very unfortunately) to be in trouble for upcoming election early next year. Our conservative Prime Minister, in some ways is way too soft, especially replyimg to the lefty media here, but he is a good friend of Donal Trump and supported him. I am no fan of the Washington Post but this article looks pretty objective to me, although a bit negative. He does says it looks a bit like a trailer camp, I have to admit. The article is bit dated, as now Aussie expats can return much easier and I think they can use the camp pool again, not certain on that the rules change every. Western Australia shut their border again to us just today. We love to go to Ningaloo Reef in northwest Australia, better than the Barrier Reef in many aspects.

That is because these issues are greatly exaggerated down here by the media and by people who have an agenda. Also, most people posting here about Australia have never been here, or maybe visited once or twice, and have no understanding of the Australian culture or what is happening in the Northern Territories with the aboriginals.

Our Federal elections are coming up early next year and the Labor/Green party is doing everything in their power to get our conservative government out and for them to be elected. Then it is when we are really going to have problems, as most of the problem issues you see about Australia, have been caused by the far leftists in the Labor-run state governments and the media down here (that is completely run by the Green Party). Right now, it looks the Labor Party is going to win and Anthony Albanese will be the new Prime Minister....he is far left and further left than Biden. So then the FR will really have a field day with policies going on in Australia. I never saw a picture. He described it as such and the video shown sounds exactly like his description. What she stayed in was not a motel. They look like small prefab trailers. And it had a small patio just as he described. He’s in another far away land right now and it’s in the middle of the night. So, I’ll send him a snap shot in the morning. And no. He did not stay at the airport. He said it was enclosed and secured. They were escorted in. They had to each stay on their own areas and to not leave their patio/deck. He was told it was for Covid quarantine. As you can see, it sounds like a match to me.

The facilities were originally built in 2012 to house 3500 temporary Japanese oil and gas construction workers through 2018 for the giant Impex project.

That makes it just ducky! Sukhanovka, which Solzhenitlyn dubbed the worst of the Gulag prisons, was a former monastery (and is today).

I took another look, I think that is it. Prefabbed housing...some of our motels in the outback do look like that, not too bad the inside. Air conditioned, with wifi, etc., not too bad if you are just staying somewhere and not confined to your room/patio....I think that is the problem. It would be OK if you could go out and buy booze (lol), that is a really big problem for Aussies!

The overhead photo is misleading, that is the picture for the whole facilities built in 2012 to hold 3500-8000 construction workers. Now it is only designed to hold 850 ( the narrator said 2000, which is not correct). I think she was whinging more about having to stay there and follow the rules (which I don't like either, but that is the policy).

I am against mandates and all of the stuff, but listening to her again I think the typical Aussie wouldn't have much empathy for her. Maybe that is a problem with our culture. So now Covid is breaking out everywhere, and the Federal Government and most of the states have given up and are opening the borders (maybe)...who knows what it going to happen tomorrow.

And no one is putting anyone in “concentration camp”...such exaggerations so you can ignore the terrible human rights violations in the USA that no one is protesting about. In fact the aboriginals were given the choice to quarantine in their own homes, but most wanted to live in the quarantine facilities.

Maybe the Washington DC prisons are actually “concentration camps” where your Government is locking up political prisoner, just like the PRC and the old Soviet Union. Nothing violates human rights more than locking people up in solitary confinement, when they cannot communicate with their families, bad representation, intimidation to “confess” their sins to get reduced sentences, and then given ridiculous sentences, anyway. Looks to me that your country is using the same tactics as Mao.

This is so bad that there should be posts about it every day on Free Report, but no, we have to have 10 posts a day about an aboriginal community (most of whom support it) being moved to facilities, that are much better than where they live and who can go home if they will stay in their own homes.

Travellers who visited nine areas in Africa – South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Seychelles, Malawi, Namibia and Eswatini – are now required to undergo quarantine in Australia for all states and territories.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA (currently 80.9% double vaccinated)
Overseas: Fully vaccinated international travellers must undergo a PCR test and quarantine for 14 days at home or in hotel from November 23, and again test negative to Covid on day 6 and 13. They cannot go to high-risk settings. Anyone from the nine African countries where the Omicron variant has been found will undergo 14 days quarantine.

Interstate: Fully vaccinated interstate travellers will only have to quarantine for 7 days and get tested if they arrive from an LGA with community transmission and a double-jab rate of less than 80 per cent. Interstate travellers must also provide a negative Covid-19 test 72 hours before arriving in SA. Travellers from NSW are now required to produce a negative tests pre-arrival, and on arrival. They must quarantine until they receive a negative test after touching down in SA.
Testing: PCR tests are free in SA

WA (currently 76.6% double vaccinated)
Vaccination: WA has not set a reopening date yet, but it will likely be decided next month when 80 per cent of the state is expected to be vaccinated
Overseas: Fully vaccinated international travellers currently must do 14 days of home quarantine and have proof of a negative. Anyone from the nine African countries where the Omicron variant has been found will undergo 14 days quarantine.
Interstate: Fully vaccinated interstate travellers are currently permitted, but only avoid quarantine if in a “very low risk” jurisdiction – only Queensland, and Tasmania right now. Borders to South Australia are now closed.

Travel to some states in Australia has become a lot easier for international travellers.

TASMANIA (currently 87.8% double vaccinated)
Overseas: Fully vaccinated international travellers won't need to quarantine from December 15 if they return a negative COVID-19 PCR test 72 hours before arriving. Anyone who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Australia who has been in African countries where the Omicron variant has been detected within the past 14 days would not be able to enter Tasmania.
Interstate: Fully vaccinated travellers from low-risk interstate areas, which at the moment include only Western Australia, will not have to quarantine or provide a negative COVID-19 test. People who visited an SA, QLD, ACT or NT Covid hotspot will need to quarantine for 14 days on arrival. Travel is restricted from NSW and Victoria.

NORTHERN TERRITORY (currently 77.88% double vaccinated)
Overseas: Fully vaccinated international travellers won't need to quarantine from December 20 if they test negative after a rapid antigen test on arrival. Until December 20, 7-day home quarantine is required for arrivals from hot spots and select international destinations. Anyone from the nine African countries where the Omicron variant has been found will undergo 14 days quarantine.
Interstate: Fully vaccinated interstate travellers can enter the NT without quarantining from anywhere expect NSW and Victoria. Anyone entering from a hotspot will have to quarantine for 7 days, and SA arrivals must immediately get tested on arrival and quarantine until they receive a negative result.
Testing: All travellers must be fully vaccinated and a negative PCR test is also required for anyone arriving prior to December 20

VICTORIA (currently 90.97% double vaccinated)
Overseas: Regardless of vaccination status, arrivals into Victoria will now be required to self-isolate for at least 72 hours. Anyone from the nine African countries where the Omicron variant has been found will undergo 14 days quarantine. Testing requirements are in place for all overseas arrivals.
Interstate: Regardless of vaccination status, domestic visitors no longer need a permit to enter the state. Anyone who develops symptoms of Covid-19 should get tested immediately.

Interstate: Fully vaccinated interstate travellers do not need to quarantine or fill in a declaration form if they have not been to an “affected area”. The only current affected area is in the ACT and Victoria. There are separate rules for people living in NSW-Victoria border communities.
Home quarantine: If an interstate traveller has been to an area of concern or place of high concern within the previous 14 days, a period of quarantine may apply.
ACT (currently 98.51% double vaccinated)

Interstate: Fully vaccinated interstate travellers who have been in a hotspot the previous 14 days do not need to quarantine, but must complete an exemption form and get tested immediately if symptoms develop. Unvaccinated travellers must isolate for 14 days and only leave the elected isolation location for essentials reasons.”

I believe that the moral of this story is to be aware of the surveillance tools in the community,
since the casual contact with an infected acquaintance initiated this "contact tracing".
This prompted the inquiry during which she lied about her testing for covid.
This internment for 14 days, despite never ever having covid, was "punishment" for lying to the investigator.
The tyrannical threat imposition of a $5000 dollar fine, without any 'due process', assures compliance.
There are several lessons learned here in this story.

Comfort is not the primary consideration here.

Forced confinement by the State of a free citizen without a charge -- much less a hearing; let alone a trial -- that is, the forced suspension of a citizen's liberty without some form of "due process" but instead purely on the basis of some politician's, even worse some unelected bureaucrat's "good reason" is the compelling issue ... a perspective I pray that the good citizens of Australia keep firmly in mind.

They were made to hold people charged with or convicted of crimes. At least we don't imprison innocent people who are not even charged with crimes or sick with a disease that requires one to be quarantined, as they do in the Australian Democratic Republic.

I appreciate your post #74 regarding transit between the Australian States and Territories.
I have an immediate family member and her spouse who are relocating from Melbourne to Adelaide due to employment change.
I forwarded parts of your post #47, but I am sure that they are already familiar with the interstate quarantine rules.
In the past, they have already scheduled holiday/ vacations according to anticipated State closures and quarantine rules.
It would have been more helpful if the various State regulations were standardized and consistent.

Human rights violations are far worse in the USA and hardly any protests, especially for the poor people held in Washington DC. Sure we have problems, but how about cleaning up your own mess in the USA before complaining about a country that obviously you very little about.

Nobody here is defending the Bastille treatment of the Jan6 protesters. You on the other hand seem to glurry with delight over the kidnapping and concentration of your fellow Aussies into camps. That's the difference.

The internment camp resources seem to be better than housing in covid hotel with no windows, all artificial lighting, with no personal contact with another human.
Here in the States, such treatment is reserved for disciplinary punishment in our penal system.
Such housing represents a significant difference between Australia and the USA as to how people are treated.
