The conservative news site I have operated for the last 15 years is undergoing persistent bot attacks which leave site unable to load and me unable to post news. Does anyone out there have experience with this?

I'm getting 500k queries a day which overwhelm and render rightbias useless. I've been battling this for over a week and as soon as I get it up and running, I get inundated with another few hundred thousand bots. I'm at a point where I'm not sure what to do and am so angry that this persistent attack on conservative news and views are so handily destroying my lifes' work. And one out there have any suggestions?

See if your ISP offers a Ddos (distributed denial of service) protection option. Among the most popular is Cloudflare, which you can also get.

You need to work with your hosting service to filter queries and block IP addresses that hammer your site.

If you’re running your own servers, try Cloudflare:

If you’re hosted by a hosting company, you’ll need to deal with them or move if they aren’t equipped to deal with the situation.

Your ISP should be able to fend-off the attacks.
Otherwise, wait until there are a hundred thousand bots on it, hit the red button on your keyboard, and blow it up, to vaporize it and the bots.
Hopefully, you have a copy of the site and can reinstall it. Heh.

You need a hosting service that provides an SLA based on up time and stipulates penalties for not achieving those goals. Shoot for 3-nines and it won’t cost an arm and a leg.

This is very sad. You may want to look into getting a real job.

Actually, with some server tool options, you can go and block these IP’s yourself. Premium hosting usually gives you these tools included.
