A letter from Catherine the Great supporting mass immunization against smallpox sold at auction Wednesday in London. In the letter, dated April 20, 1787, the Russian empress instructs a governor-general of what is now Ukraine to make immunizing the public a priority and says that “such inoculation should be common everywhere.”
Grandma Loves Me To The Moon And Back Casual Crew Neck Shirts & Tops White/XXL The letter sold at the MacDougall’s auction house along with a portrait of the empress painted by Dmitry Levitsky, for a total of ₤951,000. MacDougall’s said the letter reveals “the statecraft and foresight shown by the great monarch.”
It also shows her struggle against fear and misinformation about immunization among the public. Nearly two decades before the letter was written, she had become the first person in Russia to be immunized against smallpox, yet millions of Russians still feared the procedure.

We don’t often get a crossover between GGG and current events.

Immunization against smallpox existed in 1787?

Smallpox in 1787 had a far greater potential for causing death than does Covid in 2021.

Wow, my bad...apparently it did. In fact smallpox was apparently combated with forms of inoculations all the way back into ancient history. Ya learn something new everyday.

Dan Rather may have been the one to discover the letter.

Should’ve remarked it really started the vaccination concept and science. That’s the starting point for “vaccines” per se in history.

Exactly. Generally the “major” form had a 30% death rate! (NOW THAT’S A DEATH RATE!)
People will want to use this as an example of how imperative it is we get vaxed - for a measly 1% death rate disease.

Earth to MSN: The smallpox vaccine worked. The COVID stuff is not a vaccine and seems to have the reliability of a malaise era GM car. I got both shots, and did still get COVID (and I'm an old fart). Was it the shot? Or was I just lucky? Don't know. It was comparable to a pretty bad cold, and I did lost my sense of taste/smell for a few weeks. In any case, I thankfully chose to get it before I had seen the 1,025,789 reversals done by Falsie Fauci and heard the jokes of reasoning coming from you media idiots. Shove it, shove it deep, and shove it often. However, thanks to the corrupt and not even close to first grade science knowledge media, no one believes you clowns any more.

Edward Jenner... the first patient was inoculated in 1757.

Oh good God. Yup, they have to tie it in with this miniscule disease. Or rather the HYSTERIA.

Nah, she had good reason.
But comparing smallpox to this disease is insane.
But then, all is insane now.

George Washington while on campaign was inoculated and insisted his household were all treated too.
