Viral load is a measure of the amount of virus INSIDE someone’s body, so it’s impossible for an externally worn mask to reduce that.

RE: Masks are not supposed to reduce the rate of infections. They reduce viral load and therefore tend to reduce severity of disease and deaths.
Can we say the same thing of the current Covid “vaccines” ( note the quotes )?
Because the pressure drop through the filter medium would be so high that air would no go through the medium, but around the leaks where it seals on your face. It’s a trade-off between air through the filter medium and the leakage.
In utility baghouses (used to capture coal flyash in the flue gas), the face velocity is measured in feet per MINUTE. The “face velocity” is the speed at which the gas passes through the filter fabric. The fabric itself does not do much of the filtration, either. It builds up a “filter cake” (filtered material deposited on the filter fabric) which itself does most of the filtration.
Human face masks have two serious strikes against them: 1) they do not have a filter cake and 2) they have a MUCH higher face velocity. Both of these lead to seriously degraded filtration efficiency.

A lot of heavy duty maskers in my apartment building. I got all sorts of dirty looks for not wearing a mask, back in the heyday of idiots applauding dancing nurses at 7 PM every evening. But now I’ve noticed that even some of the hardcore maskers are taking off the mask.
I think that some of these people are keeping the mask on strictly because they don’t want me to see them take it off, because that would mean that I have won, since I’m not dead yet, and the COVID hysteria continues on indefinitely.
They are effective if someone is actually sneezing and coughing in blocking large droplets. But someone that sick wasn’t likely going out anyway...
Masks are political obedience flags and it makes little girls part of the club.
