Gotham’s far-left public advocate Jumaane Williams, who’s running to become the state’s next governor, has pushed to slash funding to the NYPD and Department of Defense.
Yet he traverses the city with an NYPD security detail and he lives on a US military base where he enjoys free, around-the-clock security.
The racial justice advocate resides just off General Lee Avenue, named after the Confederate military leader turned target of cancel-culture warriors, on the Fort Hamilton US Army Garrison in Brooklyn....

Almost any progressive I know lives a life of contradictions and hypocrisy. Living in gated and guarded communities or compounds is common among the progressive elite. Using private jets, yachts and fuel guzzling large SUV’s is common for wealthy liberal climate change believers as is multiple large homes.
All this guy needs is to win elective office to become independently wealthy and enjoy the really good life.

I do not envy the legal problems Mr. Rolland will be facing in the not so distant future. You can rest assured that within minutes (or less) of this story hitting the streets, this citizen has had ALL his dealings with the city, state and possibly federal governments fully doxxed.
In Fun City, you do not get away with disparaging the political elite in print withouf suffering retribution.
That is a new one on me. I actually lived on FT Hamilton as a member of the military in the late 90’s and worked there after 9/11. You usually have to have a nexus with the DoD in order to get on the waitlist.
As a DoD federal employee one could, or as the dependent of someone who has that DoD nexus. I think there is more to this than just the waitlist. Does he have someone in his direct family who works for a Federal Agency or the DoD?
That would be a heck of a question to ask him.
I live near Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Some civilians live on post, but as far as I know, they also work there. A friend married a girl from India and because she isn’t a citizen, he had to move off post.
Most military housing, much of it substandard and decrepit, was turned over to private contractors to build and maintain.
For military bases with underutilized housing occupancy by military families, it is “opened up” to leasing by civilians. As far as I know, this policy has been in effect for years, to allow contractors to recoup some of their investment. I think that most military members today choose to use their housing allowance to build equity in their own home instead of forfeiting it and living in “rental property” on the installations.
Obviously, this availability would revert if there was an influx of occupancy by military.

In army usage, "bases" tend to be places of temporary accommodation from which operations are staged or launched, such as "forward operating bases" or "fire support bases."
