The immigrant Scots of South Carolina were just a generation foreward from the British genocide of the Highland Clearances from 1745 to 1765. They relished a chance to get at the British Red Coats , and slaughtered them where ever they lay.

250 years...I just never did the math to realize how close we are to that milestone.
Will it actually mean something to us anymore or will it be a govcorp spectacle full of woke lies and blather?

...Congress commissioned the America250 Foundation five years ago to throw the “biggest, most inclusive commemoration in our nation’s history” on July 4, 2026, 250 years after the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.... Unfortunately, I don't think America has that long. More than likely we will be celebrating year 2 or 3 of The Great Reset. But it doesn't matter that much to me. Should it come to that, I will be long gone by then.

Sounds cool!
My ancestor Matt Talbot went broke fortifying Fort Watauga for the King’s Mountain battle. His sons did the actual fighting.
Not sure what my Scot ancestors did, but I am sure they were anti-British.

When I started listening to “The American Revolution Podcast” I was surprised to see the number of battles and other activity related to the war that took place in the South. Like most Americans, I suppose, I always had the impression that the War for Independence was very much North centered, primarily Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York. That’s basically how it’s taught in public schools.

Indeed! I foresee a road-trip in 2026!
I will swing by my ancestral Fort Watauga as well.
