A little but Sorry, Totally Saved.

Posted on 11/27/2021 6:47:57 AM PST by Mrs. Warrior

Recently my husband was installing curtain rods for me because the cold was seeping through the windows. It was time to put up the cozy, plaid, dark warmer colors to make the farmhouse warm and inviting.

My husband put his drill down and I found it on a pile of curtains. Aghast, there was grease on it! “Oh no, that is not good”. I got a little bit of dish washing liquid and wiped the greasy tool and I handed it back to him. When he went to use it next, bubbles came out of it! The look on his face was comical at first, but then he got a thunderous look. He asked if I was a little bit sorry, just a little bit? I thought I should run about then; but then I said “I'll buy you a new one, a craftsman, I will even buy an upright tool chest with a work table on top”. I was good then.

When God saw that Adam and Eve sinned He knew that a price had to be paid so they would not die in their sins. He knew that the price would be his only Begotten Son. Jesus knew beforehand the cost of putting on human flesh, that it meant selflessly loving and suffering.

If we knew beforehand how some people would hurt us we would run. Jesus came to seek out people who are hurting and unlovable. He had His skin cruelly lacerated and torn and crucified off of Him so that when by the free gift, the Grace of God, we come to recognize the need to see ourselves as sorry lost sinners, we can be made righteous in God's sight by the Divine substitution, the sacrifice of Jesus, the Just for the unjust, so that we are no longer lost but made clean, sanctified, and saved.

Merry Christmas!

Nice analogy.

See what you can do with this one, also about a drill.

A friend from church had a housefire, they=n of course they had the requisite insurance delays before the rebuild could occur. In their case, it was about 6 months.

A bunch of guys came over to help do some cleanup. I found a 1/2” dewalt corded drill in a bucket full of water where it had been for six months.

Instead of throwing it out, I took it home and let it dry for a few days. Surprisingly it ran but for the first few uses threw chunks of rust out the vents. Years later, it still works like a champ. (and no, I never washed it with soap)

I think an analogy about how Christ can take the most corrupt and make it clean for his kingdom is appropriate.

I prefer Ryobi cordless tools myself. A few 18 volt batteries and I can run a myriad of tools that can perform pretty much any task that needs to be done. Best of all, Home Depot is three minutes down the road from me.

I see a metaphor, but not as exemplified.

Tell this post to your priest.
