I am growing more concerned that recent gang smash and grab activity is going to move into the neighborhoods. Why not? Of all the troubling news I've seen lately I believe this is the beginning of something—a virus—that is going to spread like wildfire. I know all you gun types will be protected but watch for those around you too.
Most of my neighbors are retired Local PD, County Sheriff, State Police and Firemen. Anyone who tries pulling this smash 'n grab crap here is more than likely to end up dead than anything else.
Two years ago some trash from Joliet broke into one of my neighbors home, the punk kid was lucky to get out alive. He was dumb enough to break into a retired County Sheriff's home. Neighbor held the thug at gunpoint, cuffed him and then held the phone up to his face and made him beg on 911 for someone to come save his ass before he got shot.
It was interesting to see all the local PD come swooping into our little area. Retired County Sheriff said hello to all the local PD, they all seemed to be friendly with each other the punk kid was arrested and taken away.
This time there will be no calls to 911. Not sure where the thugs bodies are going to be found, if they're found at all. We have plenty of coyotes and hawks around here that'll probably get a few good meals here and there.
I’m pretty big on minding my own business. My friends are all armed. If they need help and call, I’ll respond. Everyone should have seen this coming for years. If they are not ready, and detested guns and “gun people,” until now, it may just be too late for them.
It will sweep across my town until, and only until, it sweeps towards me. Then it will stop, dead in its tracks.
Didn’t we just see three guys get convicted for taking actions they thought would protect their families and neighbors? We might criticize them for being dumb but when prosecutors will go hard after the most ironclad self defense case it is difficult not to look dumb when the case is less than ironclad.
Yep. Ray Charles could have seen this coming.
Still have 20k + rounds of 556 that I bought when Jugears got elected the first time. Saw what was headed our way.
You hit the nail on the head! I will ONLY protect those who are pro USA. Brandon voters can KMA
With inspiration from Solzhenitsyn, I would offer that losing a half dozen friends to gunfire from pissed-off neighbors would dampen the enthusiasm for any future forays into mass robbery.
Go in with 80 fellow hoodlums, lose 5 or 10 to local gunfire, then only 50 show up for the next looting party. Gee. Then lose a couple more while pillaging the filthy capitalists again and only 15 are willing to attend the next outing.
You don’t need to get them all. Just give the survivors something to think about.
My conclusion is that if a store or company does not think enough of their employees and merchandise to take strong measures to protect them...why would I do it for free...putting my life and financial security at risk for free?
My conclusion: Be very quiet and careful. Try to be invisible in the crowd but be a good witness.
Even at home under the laws in most states, property is not considered more important than the life of the lowest slime human.
So if a person comes into your home unarmed and carries out everything you own, you will be prosecuted for shooting him.
If he is a brute on meth obviously capable of killing you with his bare hands, you have grounds under the disparity of force rule.
But regardless of what you personally think is right, there is the law and it does have traps even in your home.
I have no doubt smash and grab will come to our homes and a “safe full of guns” will be as attractive as one full of money, gold or diamonds. So everyone had better study very carefully the local laws and even more important, how your local prosecutor interprets the law for he will be the one deciding what happens to you after the shoot.
Never forget there are many Nyfongs still acting as DA's.
Not from 300 yards away hidden behind cover. They are not going to stick around, they are going to run. Engine would still get them 5 miles away as they try to split. They would be sitting ducks alongside the road waiting to be picked up.
“I disabled their vehicle and would like to make a citizen’s arrest”
Would be a counter argument documented with 911 against any effort they may try to claim as “Imprisonment” later because you disabled their vehicle leaving them stranded after they cut and run.
No physical harm was committed against a human and none can be claimed. You could have if you wanted to, but you didn’t. all you did was put a time limit on the “usefulness” of their method of escape.
I don’t care a fig about the store. When the crowbar wielding thugs are rampaging by me, my concern is pulling the gun and being charged myself if I don’t actually use it. You are liable to get the McCloskey treatment in most locales anymore.
> a “safe full of guns” will be as attractive as one full of money, gold or diamonds <
And that’s another reason why it’s smart to not mention your safe full of guns, should you have one.
On kind of a related note, I’ve got a friend who collects classic sneakers. He’s got a large and valuable collection. And he’ll tell anyone who will listen all about it. He’ll even show pictures of his collection to waitresses.
I’m actually surprised his house hasn’t been hit yet.
Nice Pollard, looks a lot like our secluded getaway spot we call “The Fort”. No traffic hum, plenty of Jays, Turkeys, Hawks and Deer, and a few Elk. Takes 30 minutes to get there from the house in town. Lots of peace and quiet. Our town is nice too, farming/vineyard/orchard area. No troubles in either place.
I agree. When bad people get upset they spray bullets everywhere. Not worth it, not your stuff, not your job, leave the area and take any innocents with you.
Home is a different situation.
“I know all you gun types will be protected but watch for those around you too.”
Wait...WUT?
Have a box of air pistols - they sure look like the real thing. Nobody shot in my home would be unarmed.
You don’t need to get them all. Just give the survivors something to think about.
Forget the “mob will turn on you” bullcrap. After Rittenhouse killed two and wounded one, he was left alone to wander down to the police station and later to go home.
The implications for any future unrest are clear; if the thugs don’t learn the first time, rinse and repeat.
They can come in and take ANYTHING they want as long as I get out with the wife. There’s nothing in here that can’t be covered and upgraded by an insurance claim with a deductible. Certainly there’s nothing here that’s worth going to war over.
My Neighbor on the other hand...
They better not go in there.
I would have to add our pets to the mist od my spouse and me. Don’t mess with the defenseless animals!
