Top U.S. infectious disease official Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Friday that a ban on flights from southern Africa was a possibility and the United States was rushing to gather data on the new COVID-19 variant. No decision to halt flights had yet been made, he said.

One important step to a cure would be to throw Fauci from an airplane about 30,000 feet up.

"...deadly variant..."

Nobody in the article used that term.

In fact, Dr Death said nothing wrong in this specific linked article. All he said was we don't know enough yet to ban travel.

I agree w/ Dr Death.

A flip-flopping clock is occasionally correct.

I don't understand why folks here want to panic w/ travel bans. Based on the success of prior bans? This isn't a new scary virus. Sounds like this now varsity virus might have its 12th or 13th variant 'letter' in Greek speak.

Were there travel bans for all variants that lettered? If so, South Africa should already be covered by big bad Beta var. How about America-internal bans - Epsilon was first arrested in California. Can we ban travel out from CA?

History and biology suggest these latter Greeks are and will continue to be milder versions of WuBooHoo. If this proves so, why ban them? If not for the sake of the jab-wounded, we'd likely do better to import more Greeks.

Also... give me Sweden or give me death!

Heavily compliance-oriented Wall Street articles and other Sweden bashers can have their opinions. But it seems a Free Republican would choose Freedom and Sweden over the tyranny of Dr BrandonFauci and America's MUCH higher rate.

Gee, almost like they want to stall until it does infect many Americans.

Well the data seems very consistent anywhere you look, and most of the migrants are young men, which haven’t been hit by this like the middle-aged and elderly have. Life expectancy in Sweden has dropped around 6 months across the board.

South Africa needs him now more than we do. Put him on a plane full of vaccines and send him there, one way, ASAP!

Just wait, they’ll be blaming Trump because “his” vaccine didn’t work. Surprised they haven’t already...

No, home of Bill Clinton, Strobe Talbot, George Stephanopoulos, Naomi Wolf, Corey Booker, all Rhodes Scholars. Look at Oxford on Covid. Look at them on climate change.

They are like an Ivy now. All name, political joke in reality.

Thank you very much. Sad but true :-(

Would you mind if I told it (in translation) to a Conservative friend of mine? He would just wholeheartedly agree :-)

You are very welcome.

Into which language should I translate it for you?

Regards,

Very sorry  I meant that I would be translating it into German, as my elderly friend speaks very little English - like so many of his generation :-)

He is fluent in French, Classical Greek and Latin, however ;-)
