Bury your carbon, bury yourself
American Thinker ^ | 26 Nov, 2021 | John M. Contino

It's easy to see why the histrionics over "climate change" are not only explainable, but inevitable.

Are you among the 85% of adults who, according to MasterCard, state that "they're willing to take personal action to combat environmental and sustainability issues in 2021"? MasterCard has partnered with a Swedish company called Docotomy to unveil the new Do Black MasterCard — the world's first credit card with a carbon limit! Do Black "not only helps users track and measure CO2 emissions associated with their purchases but also puts a limit to the climate impact of their spending."

So instead of a spending limit in dollars, the card is limited by the climate impact of your purchases. The possibilities for voluntary and not so voluntary compliance are endless; however, as not all carbon is created equal, allowances will have to be made for the frequent, though necessary, private jet travel of the elites, as well as adjustable carbon allowances for various regions of the planet.

On a less personal level, a company called Navigator CO2 Ventures LLC is working hard to capture and sequester carbon (CCS) from the farmland of five Midwestern states, through an endeavor they've christened Heartland Greenway. As if CO2 were not really plant food, as formerly taught in grade school, Heartland Greenway wants to "capture and store 15 million metric tons of CO2 every year" from some of the world's richest farmland by building huge interconnected contraptions to capture, dehydrate, compress, and liquefy CO2, which would be transported via a 1,300-mile steel pipeline, then pumped into its permanent resting place in the ground, more than a mile below the surface.

And as if it were not an irredeemably boneheaded policy to burn our food supply in the midst of increasing worldwide famine

It is amazing to watch how the politicians can exploit the tendencies in some people for self loathing.

Its getting into a scientific religion game so as to fleece people on a new original sin.

Carbon dioxide comprises .02% of the earth’s atmosphere. They make you want to believe that it’s 50% and we’re choking on black smoke. The reason there are droughts and conversely flooding rains is because of atmospheric patterns that get stuck.

They’ve been selling carbon indulgences for years. It’s quite a scam, as most of them are, for now, voluntary. The level of manufactured guilt is incredible.

Its what happens when there is no proper religion in people. There is a habit to live a religious life in the human psyche but unless its in worship of the correct things, people will worship the wrong causes and form rituals for the wrong lifestyles.

Is that like pumping too much air into a balloon? When will it blow?

When did CO2 become equal to hydrogen cyanide? Am I going nuts here? This is like saying “Oxygen is destroying our planet” What in the effin effity eff are you talking about wacko??

These climate fanatics need a major ass kicking, I’m sorry, but the absolute LAST thing we should be doing is reducing carbon emissions. The atmosphere is comprised of 0.04% CO2 which is ridiculously low enough. If it ever got down to 0.02% God forbid, we are DEAD. All plant life would start dying off and you would have a situation exactly like that Cormac McCarthy book “The Road”. Mass starvation and people resorting to cannibalism.

developed land runoff in the Mississippi River watershed" fosters rampant growth of oxygen-depleting algae, to the significant detriment of marine life.

Algae consume CO2 and sunlight while producing O2 and fuel. The problem is not harvesting the fuel before the microbes have at it.

Exactly right.

It’s the same as plants saying “there’s too much oxygen in the atmosphere”.

Minus the oxygen, the atmosphere contains only 0.01% carbon, the atom of life. The human body is mostly made of CO2, 12% carbon, 65% oxygen, all recently extracted from the atmosphere. Why would any sane person want to permanently sequester life making atoms from the environment?

Or, you could plant some trees which do a really nice job of “capturing” CO2.

I’ve read articles that during the Earth’s glaciation periods, the planet actually does come very close to extinguishing all plant life due to extremely low CO2 levels. If that happened, of course, all multi-cellular animal life would also be extinguished.

We’re burying carbon all the time, when our trash gets buried in landfills. Paper, plastics, wood, household garbage — by weight a large percent is carbon.

The way coal and oil were formed in the first place was organic sediment getting buried.

Do Black MasterCard

It's a credit card for coal burners. Spending money, theirs or the bank's, is the same thing as consuming energy, which around the world mostly comes from burning coal.

In an energy-efficient free market, prices are proportional to total energy consumption and pollution production. If someone spends more money on environmentally friendly products, it's trivial to track down where those products are harder on the environment: just follow the money into the pockets of the rent seekers.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, methane to methane
