My (extremely liberal) company in New Jersey has issued a mandate based on Biden’s “vaccine” mandate for companies who are also federal contractors.
The originally deadline was October, but kept getting kicked down the road with delays, and court stays. Now it seems like the Jan 5th deadline is it. If my “vax” card is not loaded into their confidential system by the 4th, I will be terminated with no severance on Jan 5th, after 7+ years of impeccable service and dedication. However there’s more to just not wanting to get the shot. I was approved to move out of state (to a popular state in the south with a great gov), which I uprooted my life and moved to earlier this month, so I will be working remotely, however they are mandating it for remote employees as well.
Here’s the real kicker… I applied for a religious exemption in the late summer and was APPROVED. BUT NOW, HR has said in black and white that my religious exemption is not longer approved… that they can “assume”, but not “determine” that I have strongly held religious beliefs... that is their basis for denial. And that working remotely or getting tested would create “an undue hardship” with my company.
Anyone else getting this same BS from their job? What course of action are you taking? I am NOT going to get this shot, so I am weighing all of my options, including submitting a discrimination complaint with the EEOC, and outing the company to local news sources.
“The email states that they approved it “for now”....”
Well, that is something to go on. They would need to explain why they changed their policy, which I would assume would not be easy. Unless there was a “pending final approval” clause or something like that.
Contact liberty council or America’s front line drs.
My hubbies religious exemption allowed for covid, denied, appealed n denied again for flu shot. He was terminated last Fri while we were on vacation.
Filing for TX unemployment when we get home. Sorta hoping twc
Sees the craziness in the contradiction.
God is good. Follow your faith.
Compliance might buy you a few months if the shot doesn’t kill you, but the tyrants are going for broke. At some point we have to kill them or let them kill us. Won’t be much longer because they know their window of opportunity is growing short.
The company I retired from (was conservative back then, not so much now) issued a similar mandate. Dec. 8 to prove vaccination I believe. I do some consulting for them, all remotely. I was told it applied to me. I replied that, vaccinated or not, it’s my business not theirs. The funny thing is that my current contract (and probably the last) was prepaid because of some budget issues. So, let me go. LOL.
>And that working remotely or getting tested would create “an undue hardship” with my company.
Not a lawyer, but my reading of the EEOC (https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/section-12-religious-discrimination) suggests that there are two parts to this:
- Does the person have a sincerely held belief that prohibits them from taking the company-desired action? You’ve passed that one.
- What can the company do to accommodate the person without undue hardship?
Since that phrase is just as vague as the ‘sincerely held belief’ you’re probably done there, unless they’re singling out people for the jab but granting remote work accommodations for some other reason.
If you really want to continue there, maybe many fellow employees are similarly willing to go rather than jab and the company may relent when they realize they’re going to lose out for the lack of people.
On the other hand if I’m reading this right, you’ve already physically left so my other-side-of-the-screen suggestion is start looking. Tons of openings and putting ‘remote’ in front of your job is a good place to start.
[ObozoMustGo2012 didn’t mention what type of company it was, fed, fed contractor, or private-with-100-employees.]
Private, >100 employees, w/ fed contracts.
“I already moved south. I’m not sure how unemployment will work, as I will have only been in the state I moved to for 2 months.”
You apply for unemployment in NJ, which probably works better since NJ has a better UE payout. I am assuming you lived in NJ before moving. BTW, when you moved they would have been required to register for UE insurance on your behalf in your new location. However, you may not have enough time there (< 1 quarter) to even qualify for benefits.
Make them fire you. Do.Not.Quit. You will end up with a lawsuit that will make you financially comfortable. It may take a year or so but it will pay off. If you happen to have an employee contract then even better. They are getting ready to breach.
#3 is an interesting take on the issue.
However, the companies are banking on an indeterminate downsizing of potentially crucial institutional knowledge workers.
I have already seen one company lose its best workers over their early mandate, and they miffed off some who then stayed, so they permanently resent what was done to them.
The company cannot recover what walked out the door and they can’t find competent people willing to take their place for the little money they offer.
>I too, moved South and live a state away from my employer
I’m reading a lot of that. Last year, remote everything had companies happy to have employees away from the grime, crime, and slime of the office.
Now the leftist ones especially are missing that intimate social control of people you can only get by dictating which little cube of space they can occupy and when, punctuated by their presence leaning into the little cage.
>Not if the shot goes in the sink, and not the arm...
I’m personally against this approach; doing so establishes the person as a complier — so there’s then no ground to stand on when the next, and the next, mandate come down.
Similarly, it erodes the base of support for the remaining purebloods, so false-jabbing helps oust fellow conservatives.
I may be in the same situation as you soon. My company has not forced anyone to get the jab yet. My boss is hoping the Supreme Court rules against it.
He said yesterday in our morning meeting that anyone not wishing to get jabbed would have to wear a face mask and get tested weekly. I talk on the phone as part of my job. I am not sure how I would be able to do my job with a face mask on.
My son(23 years) was told he had to get the jab to take a job at a major pharma company in MA. He is a microbiologist.
His personal research determined that the J&J shot was the best for men. He would not recommend taking the Phizer or Moderna. He did break out in hives about day 8. He took allergy meds and they went away after a couple days.
FYI, he went to college for Biotechnology. He formerly worked at the company making the Moderna vaccine in NH.
From what I have read the major side effect of the J&J is blood clots. It is a side effect that is rare but a real concern.
We don’t know how rare because the study results have not been made public yet(NO INFORMED CONSENT). So, is it 1/100 or 1/100 or something else. So, you roll the dice.
Everyone is going to have to make a decision eventually IF that courts do not step in. Maybe this is all part of strategy to crash the economy of the world. More likely it all comes down to one thing: greed. The people behind these vaccines are making a lot of money. The more people forced to take them, the more they make. IF people are forced to get a booster every year, they become a CASH COW for Pfizer, Moderna, AZ, J&J, and Fauci. Personally, I am waiting for the Novavax now approved in a couple foreign countries.
Note: You are not getting fired for not being vaccinated. You are being fired for not providing proof.
They can’t revoke your religious exemption, it’s illegal in black letter law under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. They will lose in court, most employers are relying on people to surrender.

DO NOT QUIT. In Georgia , my employment lawyer is raring to go once they deny my exemption, and then my appeal. The lawyer can start his business only when my appeal is denied. The Mandate is losing, everyone needs to lawyer up ( exactly what the libs have been doing for years). The Mandate is dead, just like the vax hoax.
[3. Related to the last point in Item #2 ... Is your company facing financial challenges and looking to downsize? I suspect many employers are using this COVID/vaccine debacle to weed out employees without going through the trouble of laying them off due to a declining workload.]
Yes, they were going through several rounds of layoffs and probably paying out severance packages as a result, so I have no doubt that this is also being used as a cheap means of workforce reduction.
Keep meticulous notes. After every incident, write names of people involved, what was said and any intimidation tactics used by your company.
Good luck.
Me, also. I was notified yesterday that I will be placed on leave Dec. 5th, with termination on Jan 4th.
I got up this morning, and updated my resume. I plan to start my job search today, even though I am on Thanksgiving holiday.
Get the vaccine or get another job. Not sure what else to say.
Good luck!
Correct. We are not firing employees for not being vaxxed because we don’t trust the government. If you hide behind “We are forced by the federal mandate”, the federal government can come back later and say “There was no mandate”.
This is going to be a huge class action suit designed to attack “heartless capitalism”.
