My Wife’s mothers family all live in Germany. Most work in banking.

In the German case, if your ambulance comes by to pick you up at home, for hospital/ICU care...they drive to the front door and if full...you don’t get entry. Hospital then calls around, and finds a place (might be 30 min, 60 min, even 90 min away....then the ambulance drives to that hospital.
It’s not an issue over the whole country...I’d say presently there’s a hot-zone around northern Bavaria and stretches up via Nuremburg, Jena and Leipzig. There are some towns in Bavaria where the 7-day rate per 100k is over 1,000 (which is serious amount of infection).
I’d say there is there weird prospective of people....7 weeks ago, there was talk of 25 Nov being ‘freedom-day’ where the epidemic rules were ending and infection/hospitalization rates were very low. Then about mid-Oct, this came on like gang-busters. Political folks are acting crazy because they forecasted all this ‘herd immunity back in the spring if they got two-thirds of the nation vax’ed-up. Well....all the vaxing does is lessen symptoms, and you walk around an extra day or two, masking your Covid, and spreading to other vax-ed-up people or non-vax people.
Another issue popping up...lot of people had Covid in the spring....got vaxed-up and hundred days later...got another dose of Covid. Spring Covid and the vax had questionable effect.
Finally, there’s this group that is growing...having what you’d call ‘long-Covid’, and physically....even 3 months later, in a weakened state. There’s no numbers but German doctors admit now that they have to treat the group as a long-term problem and recovery might take months.
In the peoples Republic of Connecticut, the state has essentially lifted every restriction except requiring masks in schools. However, the media continues to post daily fear mongering stories, statistics, etc. Highlighting the latest fears the “experts“ have about Thanksgiving, fair season in the fall a few months ago, etc. Along with the daily number of cases.
I would say 95% of the comments to every article are people saying we don’t longer care shut up. You still have that small group of people who are living in abject fear and terror that they are going to die of Covid despite being triple jabbed and wearing masks everywhere they go. If that were the case we should have piles of bodies lining the streets, but we don’t.

And think that a no-lockdown policy is a devious right wing fascist plot to ‘let the bodies pile high in the thousands’. In Europe, there’s a secret plot behind every corner:
