My point was, perhaps, to obscure. I was trying say if we did banking like voting it would be unacceptable. Banks seldom make systematic mistakes and the transitions take place in near real time. It should be possible to know who wins an election within 30 minutes of the polls closing.
Ah, yes. Good point. Which is more crucial to civil order, banking or voting? I thought you were suggesting an electronic/digital method for voting. I would accept that if there were a proven way for the individual voter to SEE that his vote was counted as cast. Serialized paper ballots are less subject to instant shenanigans, whereby we sacrifice speed for accuracy. Allow two weeks for voting. Allow one week for counting. Any fake paper shows up, and it is out. Each and every ballot must be reviewed and adjudicated by all parties with “skin in the game.”
