I’ve never heard of it. I’ve got a big stone that isn’t coming out on its own.

I’d tend to believe that if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

The larger concern is with compromised renal functionality, does it carry any negative impacts for usage. For example, for kidney pain, taking an Advil (NSAID) is asking for major trouble as it can damage the kidney, as opposed to Tylenol which is fine. How many people are aware of these things? I’d do a very deep dive into the chemical breakdown and how it is supposed to mitigate renal dysfunction before even considering it.

the more reliable resource is a high quality magnesium (glycinate) in ‘high’ doses consistently. Take 2 caps/tabs 4x per day and the calcium can then dissolve. You can’t dissolve and absorb calcium without being efficient in magnesium. Adding in Borax (yes, 20 mule team) will go a long way to help balance the minerals.

This sometimes helps: (does not need to be a specific brand, just cranberry).

One of my daughters is a chronic stone maker. Her kidney doctor helped by telling her to drink tons of citric acid, he said strong lemonade was the best. It has worked extremely well for her.

I drink large glasses of lemonade twice per week.

I passed a bolder about 8 years ago. Shortly after, I began the weekly lemonade. I have not passed a large stone since.

Remedy : Apple cider vinegar

It is one of the most effective home remedies for kidney stones and the discomfort they cause. Since its ingredients are rich in citric acid, it helps to dissolve the kidney stones as well as alkalize blood and urine. In addition to flushing out the toxins, apple cider vinegar can help ease pain caused by the stones. To reap these benefits, add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 6-8 ounces of purified water. Drink this mixture throughout the day. You shouldn’t consume more than one 8-ounce glass of this mixture per day. If ingested in larger amounts, apple cider vinegar can lead to low levels of potassium and osteoporosis. And always increase clear your water intake.

Any help provided really needs to be targeted to the specific form of stone you have.

Kidney stones, UGH. No experience with what you asked about, but my doc recommended Theralux XR. Non prescription, through the mail. It works by modifying the acidity, or something. Have not had stones since I started taking them, almost four years ago. That and vinegar pills which he also recommended. Full disclaimer, he said the XR wouldn’t necessarily prevent them all, but instead I’d getting “5”, you might get “2”. Again, I personally have had none. Good luck, stones suck big time.

For small stones, use coca cola. 6 cans of real plain Coke drunk over a two hour period while trying not to pee. Follow with a can of asparagus or fresh alternative. My MIL told me that one when I was in kidney pain thirty years ago. It worked by the time I had eaten the asparagus. Coke’s gotta be cold. Warm coke will bloat you up and be very uncomfortable. If it doesn’t work, repeat once. If one repeat is insufficient then you have to go to a doctor because the stone is big. I have done it three times in 30 years with good results. You might be able to dispose of a bigger one by repeating the coke treatment multiple times but then the Coke might just do you worse than the stone.

I’m a urologist. There is no dietary supplement or medication that can “dissolve” a calcium stone. They will either stay in the kidney, pass (with considerable pain), be removed intact or fragmented. Uric acid stones can be dissolved in some cases by making the urine more alkaline (usually with a citrate compound such as potassium citrate). Stone prevention is important and the mainstays of prevention are increased water intake and limiting sodium. There are other measures that can help, depending on the type of stone. Often, evaluation with a 24-hour urine panel can point to specific treatment with dietary measures or medications. Cranberry juice is not helpful and could make matters worse because it makes urine more acidic. Apple cider vinegar won’t help at all.

Yes. Bought mine from Amazon. Passed a stone about the size of a grain of sand...which felt like it was the size of a knitting needle...
The tea does something to take the sharp edges off the stones if they are small and helps to dissolve some of the larger ones as well.

Good stuff. In fact I would suggest plenty of water, lemons, and cranberry with vodka to kill the pain when necessary.

I don’t have experience with kidney stones, but I recently succeeded in getting rid of gallstones using malic acid, so I see no reason to think there isn’t a similar remedy for kidney stones. Some quick checking showed the potential side-effects of chanca piedra *should* be manageable, so as long as your friend doesn’t have other serious medical issues it’s probably worth trying.

If it doesn’t work, another non-invasive option would be to find a doctor who can use ultrasound to shatter the stones.

This is what has worked for my husband. He has had two bouts of stones where they needed to be broken up. I noticed that the last episode was preceded by heavy sweating during a hot spell which probably caused dehydration. We also noted that our well water is high in calcium.

I bought a counter top distiller. We only drink distilled water now and have been doing that for 5 years. I also make sure he’s drinking enough water especially in the summer.

So far, so good. My dog and cat drink the distilled water as well. Why? Neighbor’s dog had kidney stones too.

This brand is good and works well. They are not all the same. They also offer a capsule version.

Vitamin B6 (50mg) and magnesium prevents kidney stones. Do NOT take the B6 later in the day, or before bed. It will cause nightmares. A co-worker made the mistake of doubling his B6 and was awokened every two hours by nightmares.

I have had kidney stones on and off most of my adult life. Neighbor suggested Chanca Piedra tea. I had a big stone in my kidney and my doctor thought I would need surgery. After a few months of the tea, the stone dissolved. Doctor couldn’t believe it. Now I drink the tea at half strength four days per week and take a capsule the other three days. Over 10 years stone free. Friends and neighbors, who were having stone problems, the tea worked for them.
