Forklift to aisle one! Grown Florida man throws EIGHT MINUTE tantrum on Costco floor after being asked to wear a mask!
UK Daily Mail ^ | 10/31/2021 | Matt Mcnulty

A Florida man was filmed as he lay on the floor in a Costco for eight minutes in protest after he was told to put on a face mask, as a pair of local sheriffs ask the maskless man to get off the floor and leave the premises.(snip)

'He said he would sue Costco and the police if they touched him,' the original filmer, who asked to remain anonymous, told Newsflare.(snip)

he got up and paid for his stuff at the self check out then the officer escorted him out.'

'Outside the manager was arguing with an officer that they should have not let him pay for his stuff' the person behind the camera added.(snip)

A woman dubbed 'Costco Karen' sat on the floor of the superstore, refusing to move while declaring 'I have constitutional rights!' after she was similarly asked to put on a face mask.(snip)

The woman had a face mask dangling from one ear but refused to put it on completely to cover her mouth.

'You just have to tell me that you have one. Well, then you have to wear it. You have to wear your mask in public. This is private property,' the female employee said in the video posted back on June 30, 2020.

'I am not a member of Costco,' the woman is heard snapping back.

'Want me to get that taken care of for you? Well, then you’re going to have to put your mask on,' the employee says.

'I will not,' the woman says curtly, adding the mask requirement is 'your problem'.

'Well then come back another time,' the employee says.

'I want to speak to your boss,' the outraged woman replies.

Ping for your reading enjoyment. Lots of justification by some posters for disrupting business on private property, and disrespecting private property rights in general, because, well, they have rights!

Also some novel ideas on how the Bill of Rights operates by some on this thread. Makes one consider that perhaps grade inflation started in K-12 several decades ago.

A Florida man...

Knew it would be something crazy from that alone.

Explain the concept of property rights as per the Bill of Rights, professor.

“Depends on what is said.”

Partly - because the First Amendment doesn’t protect certain speech, such as liable, perjury, threats of violence, and more recently, “hate speech”, whatever that is.

But partly not - because private property has no bearing on those exceptions.

My free speech is protected even on private property - not my right to lawful assembly - but my right free speech.

In fact, in many SC cases, free speech is actually protected far less robustly on public property than on private property.

Sure. Someone could go into Costco and stand up on a soapbox and say “Masks are bad, don’t wear one”, or “masks are good, wear one”. Costco isn’t going to ask or tell customers what they can or can’t say to each other, as you come into the store.

But you don’t have a right to speak (or act) like the chuckle-head did at Costco. Costco has the right to tell some to leave once they did.

A business will tell you to leave, If you don’t, you’re apt to have a complaint filed for common trespass.

So someone’s free speech is protected up until the point, the property owner tells them to leave. Which they have to do.

An example:

“Tuesday in response to complaints that a woman was “walking around the store telling patrons personal information,” police spokeswoman Sarah Kirkpatrick said.

According to Kirkpatrick, when the officer asked the woman what was going on, she repeated the same thing she had been telling patrons in the store. Kirkpatrick declined to specify what the woman was saying.

A manager asked that a notice for trespassing be issued and the officer complied, Kirkpatrick said.”

I don’t think we disagree about anything important, really.

We both agree that the owner of a privately-owned store SHOULD have the right to have a trouble-maker removed - in my opinion, for any reason. It’s private property, and the owner should be able to invite or uninvite, as he wishes.

Unfortunately, courts have ruled that the decision to “uninvite” can be challenged as discrimination. I think those decisions have profoundly weakened property rights of store owners…

For example, we have all heard the cases of privately owned bakeries being sued for politely declining to make a gay wedding cake.

Just imagine if the baker had throw the gay couple out of his privately owned store for being angry about it. Do you think if the gay couple got angry and made a scene, that would justify them being thrown out?

I don’t - if there is a basis for throwing the gay couple out of the bakery, it would be because it is private property - certainly not based on speech.

It has nothing to do with free speech - it has to do with property rights (what’s left of them).

I think people should speak their minds more. People disagree. People get angry. People may hate what another person thinks or says - that’s the whole point of the first amendment.

Of course people hate it - that’s why it’s so important not to suppress it. The Founders knew we need vigorous debate. As soon as you start making exceptions to free speech then you have have the problem of who gets to decide what speech is ok and what is not - and that leads to tyranny.

Bottom line, the masks are stupid - I think people should express their anger more - not less. People should have stop tolerating this a long, long time ago.

Maybe they will try to kicked out of a store - who cares.

My motto - if you see something stupid, say something. And if that means you get in a fight, then get in a fight. Otherwise, the whole world gets stupider - which is exactly what happening.

All good points.

Vigorous debate is good.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is another issue that gets people making personal insults (not you), but more so. Both sides have some people wishing the other side gets sick. It’s a zoo out there!

I know, I have my large extended family coming for Thanksgiving, and I’m dreading the subject of vaccines blowing everything up.

If it was just Trump-hate I could just ask people to stay off politics for the day, and I think they would probably respect that.

Covid vaccines are different, because the Left is gaslighting this so effectively - they have their rank-and-file convinced it’s not political - they really believe it’s the science.

These are otherwise intelligent people - yet they are letting the fake news convince them of this absurd narrative in which unvaccinated people are a threat to vaccinated people.

>>Do you maintain Rosa Parks threw a tantrum like a 2 year old for illegally sitting down in the front of the bus?

Oh please, Rosa Parks? grow up.

>>Different rules apply

No they don’t - its a private business owned by shareholders - don’t like the rules, don’t shop there.

No, different rules do apply.

Small business owner here.

There are different rules for every level of business.

Publicly traded companies have a whole lot of regulations to follow that a true private business does not.

And that is as it should be.

So you do not maintain that Rosa Parks was throwing a tantrum like a two year old then? Perhaps you can explain the relevant difference?

Your private property rights argument has been debunked, vaxxy1234.

Think of another hill to die on.
