US will now establish woke task force to RENAME any federal lands deemed to have racist names like Squaw Peak in Utah and Chinaman's Gulch in Colorado
The US Department of Interior is creating a new task force to identify federal lands that contain slurs or derogatory terms and rename them, mirroring changes already made by sports franchises and private businesses in recent years.
The Derogatory Geographic Names Task Force will include representatives from federal land management agencies along with diversity, equity and inclusion experts, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland announced Friday.
The process will include dialogue with tribes, state and local governments and the public, the department said, adding that it was now classifying the term 'squaw' - referring to an indigenous woman - as officially derogatory.
There are 600 federal land units with the name 'squaw,' according to the Native American Rights Fund, including Squaw Lakes in Oregon.
Other places named 'negro,' 'wetback,' and 'Chinaman' - all considered derogatory names for black, Latino and Asian people, respectively - will also likely be re-examined.

Might I suggest a change to the name of the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library due to the fact that the name is that of a serial sexual predator, workplace sexual harasser, perjurer and adulterer? I mean, some federal funds are being used for its maintenance...

Wonder if they will ban the use of “Indian” when referring to ‘native’ Americans. Indian was the term used by those that first came to the Americas, thinking that they had found a different way to India.
Also, ‘America’ will have to change, since, it’s taken from the name of a conquistador who was one of the early ‘discoverers’ of the new lands.
Since Washington owned slave, as did a some of the founding fathers and other well-known Americans in early history, all of those places named after them will also require name changes.
Let’s rename all the states to “state 1” and “state 2”, etc.
All the roads named after after ‘questionable’ people, should all be renamed.
We won’t be able to recognize the ‘new country’ formed after all the renaming.

All this rewriting of history and giving everything a new name - it has happened before in basically the exact same way - in France in 1789. Those people were just as crazy as their modern equivalents. That movie ended badly just as this one will inevitably do. History is there for the taking - too bad society has been dumbed down so much so that it might as well not exist.

It seems to me that they have been doing this for at least the past 40 years albeit without all the fanfare that they use today.
I will not live to see it but I smile a little when I think that at some future date all the new “racist” names on schools and streets in urban area will be changed to something else as the neighborhoods change.
