Admit it, you’ve done this: sat around with friends for hours, trying to come up with the definitive list of the funniest movies ever. Well, now here’s an – almost, sort of – statistical solution: the Laugh a Minute rating.
It comes from Lovefilm, the London-based video streaming and DVD subscription service. Lovefilm polled its members for the 10 movies that made them laugh most. Then, says spokesperson Helen Cowley, the company convened a panel to watch the movies and note "how many times [each film] made us giggle." Divide the number of laughs by the film’s length in minutes, and voilà: the Laugh a Minute score.
Even if the results aren't universal - the panel members were affiliated with the company - the methods are certainly more scientifically rigorous than sitting around chatting with your buds over beers at 11:30 at night.
Without further ado, the envelope, please.
Topping the list at three laughs a minute: the 1980 airline disaster spoof Airplane!, followed by the original Hangover and Naked Gun movies at 2.4 and 2.3 laughs per minute respectively.
Here's the full Top 10:
1. Airplane! - 3 laughs/minute
2. The Hangover - 2.4 laughs/minute
3. Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! - 2.3 laughs/minute
4. Superbad - 1.9 laughs/minute
5. Borat - 1.7 laughs/minute
6. Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy - 1.6 laughs/minute
7. American Pie - 1.5 laughs/minute
8. Bridesmaids - 1.4 laughs/minute
9. Shaun of the Dead - 1.3 laughs/minute
10. Life of Brian - 1.2 laughs/minute
"Interestingly," Cowley said, "while Lovefilm members voted Life of Brian as the funniest film, our research shows that for Laughs a Minute...Airplane! beats the Monty Python epic hands-down."

Ruthless People has to be one of the funniest movies ever. It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World also tickles my funnybone.
Correction: The barbershop scene was “Coming to America”.
Black Panther had more laughs for me than any of those movies (that I have seen anyhow, no borat, bridesmaids, superbad, american pie) and it wasn’t even trying. I must have had at least one belly laugh per minute with that piece of dog squeeze. Worst case of the emperor’s new clothes in show biz I can think of in recent years, to the point it actually got nominated for best picture. All that made it unintentionally hilarious because it was just so outrageously bad and hopelessly ridiculous.
Some more intentionally funny off beat pics would be the big lebowski, raising arizona, a christmas story, dazed and confused. Lots of classics left off the forbes list.

Finally: Someone who understands!

Two more:
The Lady Eve
Bringing Up Baby
LOL! No! There’s a bunch of other ones I’d swap for at least half on that list!
A Christams Story
Taladega Nights
Elf
Zoolander
Tropic Thunder
Top Secret
Team America: World Police
Napoleon Dynamite
The Jerk
Raising Arizona
...all sorts of stuff!
How they put LOB above the Holy Grail - no way
Hangover and Borat????
—
Agreed.
Austin Powers movies and The Jerk were better than either of those.
And once Borat went anti-Trump, he can croak for all I care.
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
WHAT? No “IT’S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD?(1964)”
Then there is some wonderful Harold Lloyd and buster Keaton films from the 1920s.
Porky’s.
My BIL said “You have got to watch this movie! It is soooo funny.” The movie: Borat.
Hated it.......I would give it a high score on the cringe scale, however.
“You know you need a cover sheet on your TPS report, Richard! That ain’t a new baby! MotherF.....”
I’m convinced those on the Forbes list were the only comedies the list’s author ever saw.
Forbes is owned by the Chinese now so I am thinking they may not have seen any of them. They were likely more “woke” since the Chinese know that “wokeism” is destructive to our nation.
Who pays when you're dating yourself?
Yep. For me the all-time funniest movie I ever saw was blazing saddles. But then it has to do with the time it was produced and my age at the time.
For a good laugh, I highly recommend Rat Race (2001). Hilarious!
So if you could staple your TPS reports with the cover sheet on top — that would be great.
Correct, I see a lot of us are thinking the same thing. I literally fell out of my seat laughing the first time I saw Blazing Saddles! Another that is great is the first Austin Powers movie.
THE LIFE OF BRIAN, the scene where Stan wants to become a woman named Loretta and have babies was a foretelling of today.
I got 30 days FB jail for posting it and had several other posts pulled for insulting Zuck’s trannies.
