Kyle Rittenhouse Awarded AR-15 for 'Defense of Gun Rights' Following Acquittal

Accused shooter Kyle Rittenhouse has been awarded an AR-15 assault rifle from an organization called Gun Owners of America (GOA) for his "defense of gun rights" following his acquittal from homicide charges.

"ALERT: GOA will be awarding Kyle Rittenhouse with an AR-15 for his defense of gun rights in America," GOA wrote in a Friday morning tweet. "Join us in saying THANK YOU to Kyle Rittenhouse for being a warrior for gun owners and self defense rights across the country!"

Join us in saying THANK YOU to Kyle Rittenhouse for being a warrior for gun owners and self defense rights across the country!

— Gun Owners of America (@GunOwners) November 19, 2021 Rittenhouse used an AR-15 style rifle to kill Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, as well as injure Gaige Grosskreutz in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25, 2020.

Rittenhouse pleaded self-defense to homicide charges related to the incident. A jury found him not guilty on Friday.

Prosecution attorneys argued that Rittenhouse's victims had initially approached him out of fear that he was an active shooter. At the time of the killings, Rittenhouse was 17 years old and too young to purchase or possess such a firearm. His friend, Dominick Black, purchased it for him, Black said at the trial.

Not so much that they’re ’feathering’ their nest, but that they are celebrating the misfortune of this young man forced to defend himself against multiple mobs.

To give him a copy of the tool he had to use to unwillingly take others lives (righteous, legal, or whatever) as some kind of emblem of pride is questionable at best.

I think GOA is trying to exploit what is a story about a young man who, while trying to look out for community, endured the most hellish experience of his young life.

At first, I thought it was the Babylon Bee.

*** I don’t think GOA or anyone else should be feathering their own nests based on an artificial connection to this young man. ***

I agree with you. It was a self defense case at its heart, not a 2A case. The Judge determined early on the weapon, and Kyle’s possession of it were both legal.

Sheesh, a .22? I rolled with a .308 Savage as a teen - a smidge of overkill for deer hunting but I never missed a shot 🤣

I wouldn’t wish a stroke on anyone, having had two family members who had them. She better get on something to calm herself down. I’ve seen the picture before and every time it, I wonder about her sanity…

On further reflection, the two-fist sized exit wound might have had something to do with my accuracy rate 😎

This is just to get him by until he can afford to buy a few gun factories after he sues everyone that defamed him.

I thought the State was required to return it to “Dominik” and he would then turn it over to Kyle!

Dominic Black is on trial for making a "straw man" purchase of the rifle - in other words, for buying a gun for someone who otherwise could not legally buy (as opposed to legally carry) the gun. Now, it would have been perfectly legal for Black to buy the gun for Kyle as a gift and give it to him on his 18th birthday, but it appears that Kyle gave Black the money to buy the gun and Black was to hold the gun for Kyle until he was 18. That is an illegal "straw man" purchase and is actually a federal crime. (I used to have my FFL, so I remember this provision quite well.) So I would imagine that the rifle in question is still evidence in Black's case. If he is convicted, I doubt that Kyle would get the rifle, since he is not the legal owner.

Kyle doesn’t need another AR. He needs more money to defend himself against possible Federal “Straw Purchase” charges that the DOJ is currently investigating.

“Beau had an 8 year old shoot a bear out of a tree this past season, and he did a d@mn fine job, too.”

THAT is just awesome! We have so few memories of spending time with our grandparents at such a young age, as memories fade. But that is the kind of memory that he will have forever, spending time with his Grandpa. Just so cool!

I got my first .22 rifle when I was 12 and I’m a GIRL! Dad taught all of us gun safety and required that we learn to shoot. We all got a rifle at 12. My brother had his confiscated for a while after he shot Mom in the butt with his BB gun but he eventually got the .22 back.

In recognition of the verdict, Wayne LaPierre bought a new suit. With NRA funds of course.

Kyle Rittenhouse's friend Dominic Black did not make a "straw man" purchase of the rifle because Kyle Rittenhouse did not take ownership of the weapon. The intent may have been there but the crime never occurred. Until Kyle would take possession of the weapon, it's just a gift for Dominic. Now that the Gun Owners Association (GOA) gave Kyle a new AR-15, Kyle doesn't need to take possession of the one kept in Dominic's father's safe.

The AR-15 that Kyle Rittenhouse used to defend himself would go for top dollar at auction, especially if done by a lottery. How many would buy tickets for $100 for a chance to own a rifle that's such a part of history. Even virtue-whiners would by ticket for a chance to destroy it. How much would a colonial rifle from the "shot heard around the world" go for if it could be matched by serial number as this rifle can be? Kyle shifted the course of the Democrat Riots of 2020 with this one.
