If this defection, covered by Katie on Monday, were merely a one-off event, I'm not sure it would merit much additional attention: (1) Over the last year or so, Republicans have made major gains in South Texas, boasting revitalized and surging support among Hispanics. Major news organizations have taken notice and written about the emerging phenomenon... Hispanic Republicans, especially women, have become something of political rock stars in South Texas after voters in the Rio Grande Valley shocked leaders in both parties in November by swinging sharply toward the G.O.P. Here in McAllen, one of the region’s largest cities, Mr. Trump received nearly double the number of votes he did four years earlier;... That conservative surge — and the liberal decline — has buoyed the Republican Party’s hopes about its ability to draw Hispanic voters into what has long been an overwhelmingly white political coalition and to challenge Democrats in heavily Latino regions across the country... Though Mr. Biden prevailed, the falloff of support in a historically loyal but socially conservative region signals trouble for a Democratic Party seeking to hold together a broad voter constituency. Many counties in this stretch of South Texas are more than 90% Hispanic and traditionally the state’s bluest—unlike Florida, where there are many more Republican-leaning Latinos. It is a place that Democrats counted on, and, according to residents here, didn’t understand enough to see what was coming...Democrats didn’t counter Republican messaging on three issues important to Latino voters: pandemic shutdowns, oil jobs and abortion... Mr. Guerra, the former Roma mayor, started to see pro-Trump posts on his Facebook feed. The most fierce, he said, were from the wives and girlfriends of Border Patrol agents... yes and this is a sure fire way to get the left to fight against immigration!
No.
Yes, for logical thinkers.

Agreed!
Send those conservative Hispanics up I35 to San Antonio! We’ve been drowning in woke, mean, progressive Hispanics for the last 30 years!
Hmmm, I wonder if this keeps up, how the Dems will respond? Deportations? Border enforcement? [gasp] Even a wall?
Who will be the next “chosen” race?
If the illegals coming in voted like Cubans coming from Cuba, the entire southern border would be mined within a week.
Here comes another amnesty push.
so true
if true there will be a wall with armed guard towers
shoot on sight
Hispanic citizens have always wanted the border secured and the laws enforced just like 70% of other citizens.
It’s the GOP Amnesty Senators who have been lying to us that the only way to get hispanic votes was to pander with amnesty.
If true, Democrats will soon favor building the wall.
Wouldn’t that be funny if the migrant flood turned America red for decades ....then we’d see a call for the wall!
Hispanics came here for prosperity and freedom, not for stagflation and neverending lockdowns.
I think it may be true, but sadly, the ‘right’ Hispanic politicians are as corrupt and sleazy as the ‘left’ ones, or pretty much any politicians.
More and more Cubans are now crossing border. Those coming by boat are not allowed to stay.
Hispanics came here for prosperity and freedom, not for stagflation and neverending lockdowns.

I certainly see it in my neighborhood which has a significant hispanic population. They work hard, are very family oriented, and religious. Mine is a neighborhood of the “Bathtub Madonnas”.
