"COVID-19 Mortality Risk Correlates Inversely with Vitamin D3 Status, and a Mortality Rate Close to Zero Could Theoretically Be Achieved at 50 ng/mL 25(OH)D3: Results of a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis"
"Abstract
Background: Much research shows that blood calcidiol (25(OH)D3) levels correlate strongly with SARS-CoV-2 infection severity. There is open discussion regarding whether low D3 is caused by the infection or if deficiency negatively affects immune defense. The aim of this study was to collect further evidence on this topic. Methods: Systematic literature search was performed to identify retrospective cohort as well as clinical studies on COVID-19 mortality rates versus D3 blood levels. Mortality rates from clinical studies were corrected for age, sex, and diabetes. Data were analyzed using correlation and linear regression. Results: One population study and seven clinical studies were identified, which reported D3 blood levels preinfection or on the day of hospital admission. The two independent datasets showed a negative Pearson correlation of D3 levels and mortality risk (r(17) = −0.4154, p = 0.0770/r(13) = −0.4886, p = 0.0646). For the combined data, median (IQR) D3 levels were 23.2 ng/mL (17.4–26.8), and a significant Pearson correlation was observed (r(32) = −0.3989, p = 0.0194). Regression suggested a theoretical point of zero mortality at approximately 50 ng/mL D3. Conclusions: The datasets provide strong evidence that low D3 is a predictor rather than just a side effect of the infection. Despite ongoing vaccinations, we recommend raising serum 25(OH)D levels to above 50 ng/mL to prevent or mitigate new outbreaks due to escape mutations or decreasing antibody activity."

Vitamin D for COVID-19: real-time meta analysis of 142 studies

Unfortunate URL, but lots of good info and links to studies.
“85% of 53 vitamin D treatment studies report positive effects. 27 studies show statistically significant improvements in isolation (21 for the most serious outcome).”
The benifits of vitamin D on the immune system have been discussed since the 1960s. And the uselessness of paper masks has been talked about just as long.

Is vitamin D at 50 ng/ml more effective than the shot?
More vitamin D is needed in winter because sunshine is ineffective.
Increase your dosage, or summer in Australia — hard choice ;)
I would take at least 125mg (5,000iu) daily. At the first sign of symptoms (cold, flu, etc.) bump it up to 250mg/10,000iu. Taken with C, Zinc, Quercetin, and maybe NAC will usually kick that virus to the curb.
I would like to see a nasal spray developed that would kill the virus right where it begins to breed and multiply. I’m hearing an Iodine solution mixed right would do it but some company could make a fortune if such a product was made ready to use for just this purpose. I’ve heard good things about Budenicide (sp) but not sure it does this. Anyone know if such a product exists yet?
Increase your doses of vitamin D until you start having vivid, pleasant dreams
Make sure you also take more magnesium to avoid cramps.
About Budenoside:
Funny thing. I was looking for an OTC nasal spray for a annoying nasal congestion I’ve developed. I noticed that one of the items on the CVS shelf contained budenoside. I don’t know anything about dosages or effectiveness. It caught my eye because budenoside has been mentioned occasionally as a therapeutic for COVID.
Budesonide was mentioned by Dr Richard Bartlett as a treatment to prevent lung inflammation. He recommends using it with a nebulizer.

More Vitamin D propaganda confusing correlation with causation.
Vitamin D levels are positively correlated with exposure to the sun.
Exposure to the sun is positively correlated with a persons health.
The effects of COVID are less serious in healthy people.
This means that it your health that protects you from COVID, not your Vitamin D.
Now does Vitamin D improve people’s health, or,
do healthy people have more Vitamin D because they’re out and about more?
This is the same as claiming that walking improves your health because people who walk a lot are healthier and ignores the fact that the unhealthy are less likely to walk more.

Cheap & easy ... I do it a couple times a day every time I come in from being out in the public. Got sick weekend before last & used it to reduce viral load (if it was COVID). BTW, this is also on the FLCCC’s protocol for prevention & early outpatient treatment.

If you get sick (flu, COVID or whatever), use the Vitamin D “Hammer” ..... 10,000 iu isn’t enough (I take that every day!):
Vitamin D for influenza
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4463890/
From link: A colleague of mine and I have introduced vitamin D at doses that have achieved greater than 100 nmol/L in most of our patients for the past number of years, and we now see very few patients in our clinics with the flu or influenzalike illness. In those patients who do have influenza, we have treated them with the vitamin D hammer, as coined by my colleague. This is a 1-time 50 000 IU dose of vitamin D3 or 10 000 IU 3 times daily for 2 to 3 days. The results are dramatic, with complete resolution of symptoms in 48 to 72 hours. One-time doses of vitamin D at this level have been used safely and have never been shown to be toxic.8 We urgently need a study of this intervention. The cost of vitamin D is about a penny for 1000 IU, so this treatment costs less than a dollar.
Hmmmm.. I thought "Probenecid" was the good stuff... (?)
We take large doses of D3
In a recent presurgical broad spectrum lab test, my wife was tested for a possible D3 deficiency. Her D3 level was beyond the very small upper limit and her doctor advised to cease or reduce D3 supplements. She did not
"Guidelines for blood levels of vitamin D are as follows
Sufficient: 20–30 ng/mL, or 50–75 nmol/L
Safe upper limit: 60 ng/mL, or 150 nmol/L
Toxic: above 150 ng/mL, or 375 nmol/L
A daily vitamin D intake of 1,000–4,000 IU (25–100 mcg) should be enough to ensure optimal blood levels for most people."
I do not know, my favorite shot is .44 remington magnum.
Thank you to everyone who answered my question. Very informative!
I just buy the 10% Providone Iodine, I bought mine on amazon but I think you can get it at the drugstore. Mixed it 1 part PI and 9 parts water. Bought a saline nasal spray bottle and use that.
