I am not going to mock him as often happens here. We all have a thin hold on life. We all have done stupid things in our life and perhaps have had close calls. This poor guy did not survive a not well thought out move. RIP
Anyone have a gif of the sailor or airman running off the deck of an aircraft carrier trying to catch a football in Hot Shots?
There are areas in the keys where you can be 3/4 of a mile off shore and actually get out of the boat and stand!
Reefs.
I was born and raised in South Florida and have spent lots of time in the keys, especially in the late 50’s, early 60’s when hardly anyone lived there.
Thank you for reflecting traditional values.
The football catch can be found 20 seconds into the movie trailer.

Had a few close calls myself...knock on wood.
A kid in high school went for a frisbee on a trail near a 300 foot cliff. Bad idea.
My family knows a teen who was paralyzed at 18 in 2016 by diving off a spa into a family pool—on his high school graduation day—hit his head and is paralyzed and has been in a wheelchair ever since.
So I’ve taught my boys to always jump into an unknown body of water—never dive. That way the worst that happens is two broken legs, not paralysis.
Listen. And I’m not unsympathetic here. But this article needed to start with the phrase “A Florida man” so that the general public will have some idea what to expect when continuing to read. It’s just basic decency.
Thank you, Doug.
It was California Man
I was wondering if he could be made an honorary Florida Man as some sort of posthumous recognition.
