Is there a factory somewhere I don’t know about where they manufacture fully trained cardiac care specialists?
Question for the people here who are nurses or medical technicians:
How long would it take to take a nurse who is a regular nurse and train him or her to be a cardiac care nurse?

A large number of the ICU Nurses at my place were ‘Floaters’ and they would routinely work between the SICU, MICU, and CCU. In my Department we worked just about everywhere as we were Masters of the Ventilators which are used in all areas.
It was rare to see an ICU Nurse work in the ERs or Trauma Rooms. Occasionally Nurses would transfer to the ORs.
The NICU & PICU Nurses tend to be very territorial, and I never saw much moving around to and from those Units. Most ICU Nurses are highly trained and moving around did not seem to me to be a huge training issue.

Training an RN does require Nurses to attain other Credentials. I have seen Nurses do it very quickly while some take longer. It appears to be very individual. I have Nurse friends who took years to working the ICUs while others seem to be there almost immediately after becoming an RN.
