There is such a thing as induced pluripotent stem cells, which don’t involve the unborn.

Probably. A lot of stem cell work these days use adult stem cells. From what I’ve read over the last couple of years is that researchers are getting more ‘wins’ using adult stem cells and by using a persons own stem cells means better chances of success.
