Germany is planning new Covid restrictions for 14 million unvaccinated citizens as it battles soaring coronavirus cases, mirroring a health apartheid imposed in Austria...
The incoming Social Democrat (SDP) government today warned that unvaccinated people will be barred from going to work and travelling on public transport.
The new government will also recommend that everyone should work from home unless they have a 'compelling business reason'.
'This is actually a lockdown for the unvaccinated,' said Dirk Wiese, the deputy head of the SPD parliamentary group. Around 14 million Germans eligible to be vaccinated have not taken up the offer. ...

On Austria, let’s just say the 7-day infection rate (at 851) is hefty and the political folks have used all the tools in their bag. Criticism is building up by the non-vax people being ordered to stay home, and to be honest....while restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs are open...they aren’t generating any real cashflow without the other one-third of society. The gov’t simply honors their promise of no shutdown. I should note the Austrian Presidential election is in 2022....so there’s payback coming over this (legislative election is 2024).
On German list, a number of things. Big meeting Thursday with federal folks and sixteen state ‘bosses’. Some things will occur....some not. The idea of forcing you into 3G rules (vaxed, recovered, or tested) to ride a bus/train? Lot of criticism over that suggestion...probably won’t happen. Various states allowed the Christmas market business to open....various stats have shut down their markets.
German 7-day incidence rate is 312 (more than double what it was in 2020 at this time). Whole talk of herd immunity is a joke, and national health agency say they won’t utter ‘herd immunity’ anymore. Chief problem is that hospital ICU situations are filling up (maxing out). In some areas, if the ambulance picks you up...there’s going to be a pause to decide where they can place you (might be a 90-minute ambulance ride).
On the science side...what the immunization program did was ‘hide’ the normal symptoms. You might show only moderate indicator or two of having the virus. Without daily testing, vax’ed people really can’t be sure of anything. Government seems to avoid that talk and try to hype more vax.
Final note, as bad as everything was in November 2020....Germany seems to have greatly exceeded that now...yet has not gone to the obvious shutdown strategy of 2020. So the question is...what happens in November 2022? Doubling again?
Well, if you can identify as having two "X" chromosomes even though every cell in your body actually has an "X" and a "Y," I see no problem in identifying as "vaccinated."
See, I just pretended that my index finger is a needle, and gave myself a jab in the arm! Just like we used to do when playing "Doctor" in kindergarten!

I hear the authorities in Germany are also no longer demanding to see one's Ariernachweis, so I'm glad to see that they can be "flexible" on such matters.
