Due to findings of SARS-CoV-2 in white-tailed deer, Wisconsin health officials have added a few planks to their recommendations to hunters this fall, including wearing a mask when field dressing deer.
The list includes three new measures: wearing a mask while field dressing deer; limit cutting into and handling the deer's lungs, throat, and mouth/nasal cavity to only what is necessary (for example, submitting a head for CWD testing);
No deer in Wisconsin have yet been tested for the virus.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention there is also no evidence people can get COVID-19 from preparing and eating game meat.
When told Monday about the updated DHS recommendations, Jim Smukowski, 52 of Oconomowoc, was taken aback.
"Say what?" said Smukowski, a deer hunter for 40 years who is planning to hunt this week in Richland County. "I think we've got bigger fish to fry. I won't be wearing (a mask)."

That hasn’t been proven.
In any case, in the US there has been no proof of any zoonotic transmission either way, human to critter or vice versa.
Aren’t deer supposed to not be breathing when they’re dressed?
Next they will,state that hunters must “social distance” themselves from the deer while field dressing it.
After all,, I mean It’s not like cooking the deer meet destroys any trace minute amount of covid that might make it onto the flesh while skinning the deer. One can just never bee too careful these days!
Oh, and wear a life preserver while hunting too. You just never know when a flash flood might strike. If wearing life preservers while hunting saves just one life...

The Powers That Be do not want any food independence. If you are out hunting your own food, you are not dependent on the system that the PTB control.
It’s a move to ban hunting….and ultimately guns.

This is just bordering on INSANITY!
How did the deer get COVID?? Are they attending football games or hitting the bar at happy hour?
So more I guess we have a COVID virus that is airborne and drifting though the outdoors searching out deer.
