A man who traveled to space with William Shatner last month was killed along with another person when the small plane they were in crashed in a wooded area of northern New Jersey, according to state police.
Glen M. de Vries, 49, of New York City, and Thomas P. Fischer, 54, of Hopatcong, were aboard the single-engine Cessna 172 that went down Thursday.

He makes it into space and then ends up dying in a plane crash. Bummer.

At least he got to go into space before he died. I’d like to do that too.

De Vries, co-founder of a tech company, traveled Oct. 13 aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft, spending more than 10 minutes in space after launching along with Shatner and others aboard a ship built by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company.
De Vries was an instrument-rated private pilot, and Fischer owned a flight school. Authorities have not said who was piloting the small plane.

Unfortunately it happens all too often this time of year.
Private Aircraft, warm days and cool nights equals condensed water vapor in the fuel tanks.
The engine quits due to water in the fuel line on full power climb out at low altitude.
Without enough airspeed or altitude to make an emergency landing they crash.

I remember putting that evil ethanol in the fuel tank during the winter so we wouldn’t have frozen gas lines.

Someone didn’t push the glorbal wurming agenda hard enough post-flight.

Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode where three astronauts went up in space. When they came down, they started disappearing. The final astronaut speculated that they had encountered “something up there” that didn’t want them to come back to Earth, and was coming after them.

Shatner is surely taking this hard....

If he coughed before the plane crashed than yes, its a covid death

Is there a way to counter the vapor? Add more fuel before flying? Run the plane more minutes before take-off?
