The U.S.S. Harvey Milk is just one of six new ships to be named after U.S. “civil rights leaders.” Who knows what ships of the future U.S. fleet will be named as it gets ever woker?
The USNS Harvey Milk was launched in San Diego recently in a ceremony attended by Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro and Milk's nephew Stuart. The ship takes its name from the first openly gay elected official in California history. Milk, who was murdered in 1978, served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The U.S.S. Harvey Milk is just one of six new ships to be named after U.S. “civil rights leaders.”
Who knows what ships of the future U.S. fleet will be named as it gets ever woker? Perhaps there will soon be a U.S.S. Malcolm X, a U.S.S. Louis Farrakhan, a U.S.S. RuPaul, a U.S.S. Rachel Levine, and a U.S.S. Katie Hill.
In related news, satellite images show that China has built large-scale mock-ups of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and destroyer in its arid Northwestern region in order to prepare for a potential future naval engagement in the event of a war between the two nations. China has dramatically upgraded its military in recent years, particularly its navy, now the largest in the world, as it seeks undeniable military supremacy in the South China Sea, Indo-Pacific region, and as regards Taiwan.
The United States Navy, on the other hand, is seeking undeniable supremacy in the use of proper pronouns while addressing non-binary sailors -- and in “open and welcoming” bathroom and locker room usage.
Would it be truly surprising to hear General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, declare: “The United States is prepared to defend the right of transgenders to use any bathroom

If one were able to point to one single thing that would be linked to, and represent EVERYTHING that is degraded and wrong with this country, the naming of a US Naval vessel after someone like Harvey Milk is a good example.
If I were a crewmember on that ship, and every damn day I had to walk the passageways and see the name of the ship and be reminded what a joke of a ship I am on, and to have that degradation of my country that I was serving forced into the recesses of my brain, I might well light that ship on fire were I a crewmember.
Instead, we get a good ship, the USS Bonhomme Richard, an example of all that was good and right with the values, bravery, and toughness on which this country was founded, figuratively burned to the waterline.
Glad I retired when I did. It was starting to creep in to the ranks when I got out in 2010. We had one very flamboyant young sailor, (lot of drama too) I dropped my retirement papers shortly after deployment. It was time to go.

He did serve in the US Navy (1951-55). But, so did several million others.
Milk became a civil rights leader by being assassinated, along with a heterosexual, by a disgruntled fellow Democrat. The assassin first killed the Mayor (the hetero), then killed the gay. In his confession, the assassin said he planned to kill two others, neither of whom was gay.
It was never clear that Milk’s sexual orientation had much to do with his assassination. Rather, the assassin flipped. But, the agenda needed a martyr and made Milk into one.
This naming of a ship is part of the continuing effort to make gays into a discriminated against group. Yes, gays suffer discrimination, but so does everybody else. Gays as a group aren’t an underclass, but do quite well. The Supreme Court, in the Texas Sodomy case, determined that laws against homosexuality were designed and implemented mostly to protect boys. Protecting children (boys and girls both!) remains a continuing problem in our country.

......I served in the early 1960s....we had a couple of guys who were caught doing the nasty in an empty space one night...when our ship hit our home port, they were the first ones off, never to be seen or heard of again...that was then; this is now...remember that old recruiting slogan of many decades ago...? “The Navy - not just a job, but an adventure”....yeah, sure...homos, dykes, trannies...all are welcome now....
...USNS Harvey Milk....this ship is not a commissioned warship, therefore, it is not a United States Ship - U.S.S....it is a United States Naval Ship, and operates under the auspices of the Military Sealift Command, or whatever it is called today (used to be MSTS in my day, Military Sea Transport Service...)...jus’ sayin’.....
