This is not your usual fishy business.

With many areas in Thailand submerged due to heavy rains, one woman in Pathum Thani got a shock when she woke up to find her bedroom flooded with fish swimming in their newfound habitat — instantly turning the room into an 'aquarium'.

On Oct 31, TikTok user lookpud935 uploaded a video of the incident, garnering more than 1.2 million views and 4,000 comments.

It’s time to get a dental plan that gives you access to quality care and keeps costs in check, including 400,000 access points (online & in person), critical illness coverage and exclusive discounts.

In the 39-second clip, hundreds of small fish could be seen swimming in almost knee-deep water with the woman standing on a red chair.

The woman, living in Nakhon Chai Si district, wrote in her caption that her room filled with young northern snakehead, a type of snakehead fish that can be found in China and South Korea. One netizen joked in Thai that the fish can "accompany you to sleep".

In many areas of Pathum Thani, the flooding has affected workers who waded through ankle-deep water to serve customers at noodle shops.

On Oct 8, about 30 northern and central Thai provinces were hit with flooding, raising the levels of the famous Chao Phraya river which flows through Bangkok. However, a few eateries stayed open for customers keen on shin-deep dining.

My wife and I actually used to own a house in Pathum Thani . It was about a klick of the Mae Nam Chao Praya river. We got deeply flooded out many times ,and finally after a big renovation and remodel it happened again and we sold out . Our problem was not fish however. It was cobras ...cobras and Noo hang mai , green pit vipers/ two steps. The rising waters would drive them into the houses . Them and the 4 foot long water monitor lizards. You needed a bost , which we had, to live there. Enough already ...

As a teen growing up, our house on Fatio Lane* had a large glass window from ceiling to floor. As a budding aquarist, I envisioned a outdoors fish pond beyond that window that allowed a “doggy door” to the living room, which was flooded to have fish swimming underfoot. Scattered “islands” of concrete steps would permit the family to grab snacks from the adjacent kitchen. (We were all teetotalers). ;)

The entire area is sinking about 2 cm a year. The Bangkok metropolitan area (Pathum Thani is a suburb) is built on the delta of the Chao Phraya river.

It’s bad enough where there is discussion of moving the capitol out of there and about 50km east.

I visited this farm in Thailand where they had built a glass wall drop down into the water room in a lake on their property . Loads of fish and all identifiable tropical aquarium fish to me . In schools! It was great ! Tinfoil barbs ( and a bunch of other barb types) Knife fish , many species of Gourami. Archerfish, various catfish including some really giant ones. Talk about a vast aquarium . Almost like diving in Hawaii
