The Most Reluctant Convert: The Untold Story of C.S. Lewis
My apologies. This film was scheduled as a one night event at selected theaters around the country. It was screened last night. I had meant to alert you, but I got caught up in the recent festivities down Virginia way and forgot.
The good news is that it had an excellent, pack the house reception, probably from assorted church and Christian groups. Many theaters have now announced extended runs. I've checked here and am glad to see that I'll have multiple opportunities next week.
The movie industry is watching this sort of thing very carefully because the adult and art house audiences have been slow to return post-COVID, though the comic book movie crowd seems to be back. A lot of release decisions are pending and will be influenced by how many people under the age of 30 start to show up.
The Most Reluctant Convert is a biopic adopted from a one-man stage play. I therefore assume it will be somewhat "theatrical" in style, which is ok with me.
Has anyone seen it yet? Given the topic, it's one that most of us should probably watch on principle when it's available for streaming. And if you're looking for a reason to check out your local theater, this might be one to support.
I had thought to propose a Halloween movie for November in honor of the season, but given that this film will have a very limited viewing window, Halloween can wait. It’s been a dud year in the horror flick department anyhow.
If you want off the movie ping list, freepmail me.
I bought tickets for 11/12! I’m excited to go see it.
That should be “how many people OVER the age of 30 show up.” I have my eye on half a dozen promising 2021 films. NONE of them has reached the theaters yet. As always, I worry about where the industry is headed, and that depends ultimately on audiences.
Interesting, thank you very much for pinging me!
I knew nothing of this, and was just recommending “The Screwtape Letters” to a co-worker this morning!
Keep me on this list. I agree about the current crop of movies are ... (remove the ‘o’ and replace with ‘a’)!
I will look for this movie locally in Pinellas County FL.
Do have tickets for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. And our local theater is doing the original Ghostbusters so I picked up tickets for that to. Because that way at least I am assured of one good movie.
Reminds me of my off-Broadway one-man play, La Cochina. I never did find that script again after I moved!
The movie, “Shadowlands(s)” was very good. I don’t know how accurate it was.
I saw it last night, and it was excellent.
High production values, and very faithful to Lewis’ writings and thoughts. Others we talked to thought the same. If you like C.S. Lewis, you will NOT be disappointed. See it.
When asked for a book that explains what an intelligent, well-read, and well educated Christian believes, Mere Christianity is a really good place to start.
We saw it last night. Did not like the format, it was a big fat dude telling you what to think for most of the movie. The conversion aspect of the movie was not covered very well. His friend, J.R. Tolkien was Catholic, but very little of their “all-night discussions” about Faith in Jesus Christ was shown. Overall we just did not like how the story was told.
Lewis is most famous for his Screw-tape Letters. That publication brought him worldwide notoriety. Lewis is One of my favorite authors....
I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of this one. I hope it will be released on DVD or streamed
