How did Cranberries ever get into this feast? Yuk.

Best side...stuffing.

One of the best sides I ever had was baby peas with artichoke hearts. The chances the Pilgrims had that?? LOL

The first Thanksgiving was in Massachusetts. Massachusetts is known for lobsters and cranberries. I imagine there were lots of wild turkeys in the 17th century, too.

The canned Ocean Spray version is so sweetened that it is rendered inoffensive to those who don't like tartness.

The real offensive thing is macaroni and cheese. I made it a condition of marriage that it would never enter my house. My future wife agreed.

The folks who made this "survey" don't know how to spell "marshmallow".

Cranberries abound in southern Massachusetts, presumably the pilgrims ate them. Ocean Spray is headquartered in Middleborough, one town over from Plymouth.

Tons of cranberry growing bogs in that area still.

Not a huge fan of cranberries myself, but they are the foundation of Plymouth, MA.

Cranberries grew wild in New England, which is where the colonies—and Thanksgiving—began.

Every fatty meal (turkey dark meat is fatty) needs a side of fruit acids to cut the grease in the digestive tract.
