The husband of "Rust" cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has lawyered up, and is preparing to file a wrongful death lawsuit ... TMZ has learned.
Matthew Hutchins retained the services of Panish | Shea | Boyle | Ravipudi ... according to the L.A.-based law firm. The firm's website says its attorneys specialize in personal injury and wrongful death litigation ... so clearly, Halyna's tragic death is in their wheelhouse.
Sources familiar with the situation tell us the lawsuit will be filed on behalf of Halyna's spouse and their child, and there will be multiple defendants.

Good… The prime liability should be the careless, negligent person who pointed the gun, cocked it and then pulled the trigger to initiate the fatal shot.

To: Fai Mao
Not if he’s lucky enough to get sentenced while a Democrat is in the WH.

I don’t think so, but there will be a civil suit and a massive payout.

He is going to die in prison, broke and disgraced. I doubt that very much. Except for the disgraced part.

It’ll be settled out of court. Alec Baldwin is worth $60 million. So I guess he’ll have to pay anywhere between $10 million to $20 million.

Have Baldwins lawyers made any public statements ?

To: marcusmaximus
Wrongful death? How about murder? He took a gun, pointed it, pulled the trigger. That is murder.

The prime liability should be the careless, negligent person who pointed the gun, cocked it and then pulled the trigger to initiate the fatal shot. I blame the Producer who allowed such a lax regard for safety to occur on the set.
And for hiring the starring actor who apparently found performing simple safety checks to be beneath him.

Unlike a politician, he can be tried. If the husband of the woman he killed presses the matter, Baldwin goes down.
I think Baldwin is is deep trouble.

Amos Burke of Burke’s Law would bring Baldwin to justice and Ben Matlock won’t be around to take the case, as much money as Baldwin would have offered him.
Alec is toast.

Well yeah, some flavor of criminally actionable homicide no doubt. But you dont sue for homicide. “Wrongful death” is the civil corollary, and both negligent and intentional causing of death comes under this rubric

In a world in which the right things always happened, this would be true. In the world we live in, it probably won't be.
To: immadashell
He can’t pardon someone convicted on state charges. That would be for the Governor of NM.
