The global death toll from COVID-19 topped 5 million on Monday, less than two years into a crisis that has not only devastated poor countries but also humbled wealthy ones with first-rate health care systems.
Together, the United States, the European Union, Britain and Brazil — all upper-middle- or high-income countries — account for one-eighth of the world’s population but nearly half of all reported deaths. The U.S. alone has recorded over 740,000 lives lost, more than any other nation.

In a typical year something like 55 to 60 million people die around the world anyway. So in the 20 odd months since the scam-demic started around 105 million people were expected to die anyway.
Therefore, even if all 5 million deaths attributed to covid were in fact caused by covid or covid was a significant contributing factor in those deaths... (and that is a very big "if" given the rather loose guidelines on what constitutes a covid death) Even if you buy all 5 million deaths, that's less than a 5% bump. That's probably almost within the normal statistical variation. Yet we've turned out economies and lives upside down, for this?
“I still question the 740k number for the US”
Agreed. We’ll never know the real number considering all the deaths from other reasons being contributed to covid. No telling how low that number really is.
As for China they’re probly lying too...just in the other direction.
With or from?
Asking for a friend.
Everybody who died last year had covid.
and yet they claimed Flu deaths were zero for 2020. Hmmm...
5 million worldwide? Pfffft! That’s nothing. Why in the USA alone, 500 million people are killed in senseless gun violence every year. The important government and media people told me so.
According to official records, 60M die each year worldwide.
Est is in 20 years 120M will die each year.
Don’t confuse Faux News with math.
Math is hard for those who were too dumb to pass basic math/science.
In college, I was considering going into Petroleum Engineering so took a Geology 101 class to see if it was interesting.
Super Simple!
Most of those taking it were Journalism majors to meet their “Science” requirement.
