Inglewood Morningside football coach Brian Collins did not have kind words for the Inglewood High coaching staff on Saturday morning when discussing his team’s 106-0 loss to the Sentinels in a game that saw Inglewood quarterback Justyn Martin throw 13 touchdowns passes, including a two-point conversion pass with a 104-0 lead.
Collins said he was proud of his players for not quitting. He said a running clock did not start until the second quarter despite attempts to switch to a running clock earlier. Inglewood led 59-0 after the first quarter.
Inglewood head coach Mil’Von James is in his third season. He was head coach at Hawkins in the City Section until being fired following the 2016 season when his team had to forfeit every victory for using ineligible players and the program was placed on two years’ probation for rules violations. He has seven players on this year’s team committed to major universities. All are transfer students.
Both schools are part of the Inglewood Unified School District. A statement released by the Southern Section on Saturday “condemns, in the strongest terms, results such as these.”
This isn’t the first time a district team has come under scrutiny for running up a score.
In 1990, Morningside’s Lisa Leslie scored 101 of her team’s 102 points in the first half of a girls’ basketball game against South Torrance. South Torrance refused to come back out after halftime to finish the game. The final score was 102-24.

I actually found a copy of an Inglewood HS scrimmage from this year:

Hardly. The 1916 Georgia Tech vs. Cumberland game ended up 222 to zip in favor of the Rambling Wreck who were coached by John Heisman (now more famous for the trophy named after him).

Poor oxy...they used to get some good athletes...I think Jack Kemp went there as qb...Gene Moore hb got drafted by 49ers...jim e.mora was tight end...Ron Botchan old afl player and head ref of nfl for a while....our great friend O’bama went there till he could school climb somewhere else..
The other team can always forfeit the game to save face.
Indeed. Oxy's football team, which holds a winning record over UCLA (if you count the years when it was called LA State Normal School) and boasts some wins against USC, is now history, a victim of woke times.
The football field was recently named for Jack Kemp who, unlike Obama, graduated from Oxy. However, Obama has a shrine to him in the library.
After reviewing one pathetic PC comment after the next on FREEREPUBLIC of all places I was prepared to post a scathing comment about the game is 60 minutes. You play for 60 minutes. It’s not your problem if another team fields a bunch of no-talent no skill players. That’s THEIR problem. But, then I saw POST #27 and I decided ENOUGH SAID.
“I do not see the problem here.”
EXTREMELY pinhead point of view.
Yeah, I know Vance Mueller and a number of other football alumni raised quite a bit of money for the football program…which the school squandered away on other stuff. Truly despicable. They were a great program in the SCIAC, especially in the 80’s. Shame what happened to it.
coming from the biggest pinhead on FR, thanks!
Excellent !!
America = a dead culture. Brought to you by the godless Left . . . in happy, if inadvertent, solidarity with so-called "conservatives." Got it.
106-0?
I have never heard a football score like that before.
Classless? Hell no. If you don’t want to lose by 100 points, play better.
Anyone know the most lopsided score at any level?
👍
When I was in HS well west of Inglewood, no one wanted to go to “away” games due to the “ethnic” nature of the school.
That was 60 years ago, no idea what the place is like now>
Georgia Tech beat Cumberland 222-0 in 1916.
You and the coach whining about losing seem to have something in common. We better start teaching our kids to take responsibility for their failures as well as be humble in success. Blaming the winner for poor sportsmanship is a cop out, even if they are being poor sports.
