This app lets you buy leftover restaurant food in LA. Is it worth it?

The app is pretty to easy to use. When you open it up, there are offerings from restaurants in your area with different pickup times and prices. Most of the options that I’ve seen in my area are so-called “surprise bags,” a mix of items that will remain a mystery to you until you pick up.
You have to be OK with fixed pick-up times, a mystery assortment of goods, and the chance that you might end up with nothing every once in a while. I wouldn’t rely on it for my weekly meal planning, but I’m not the kind of person who turns down a discount. Or a pastry.

Sounds like it might better be suited for use by a shelter or the like. Not for individual consumption.

If it's a top end restaurant....Capital Grille or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for example...it might be worthwhile. If the price was right.

I’ll wait for the dumpster diving app.

Grubhub and Postmates already charge $8 minimum for delivery, and they want us to pay the equivalent for leftovers? I know where Trader Joe’s, Target, Gelson’s, Ralphs, Vons gives away their excess food to, and that’s the local churches close by.

After reading the article it seems expensive to me for the amount of food you get.

Little known fact: Famed French Chef Escoffier, in the 1880’s, would feed left over food free to the homeless and poor of London, who would wait in the alley behind his restaurant.

Is that the food they scraped off the plates before they throw them in the dishwasher? (You know, that’s how pizza was invented).

It could be useful for college students low on cash. I would have done it then.

And you damn well know the uneaten salad or pasta or vegetables, etc, etc left on plates will be put into one big bowl then sold.
