Alec Baldwin ‘Extremely Interested’ in Limiting Use of Firearms on Film Sets
Breitbart ^ | 10/31/21 | AWR HAWKINS

Posted on 10/31/2021 1:15:42 PM PDT by conservative98

Baldwin spoke to reporters Saturday, responding to one question by saying he is “extremely interested” in limiting the use of firearms on movie sets.

He said, “I do know that an ongoing effort to limit the use of firearms on film sets is something I’m extremely interested in.”

Baldwin then asked reporters to remember how many guns have been fired on film sets during the past 75 years and stressed that those guns were fired “mostly without incident.”

However, he added, “We have to realize that when it does go wrong, and it’s this horrible catastrophic thing, some new measures have to take place.” He went on to suggest rubber guns or plastic guns as alternatives to functional guns that normally fire blanks.

Hollywood weapons expert Bryan Carpenter responded of the Hutchins’ death and Souza’s by suggesting Baldwin ignored the number rule of gun safety.

The New York Post quoted Carpenter stressing that the No. 1 rule as, “Loaded or unloaded, a weapon never gets pointed at another human being.”

He stressed that rules of gun safety apply even on a movie set, where “you never let the muzzle of a weapon cover something you don’t intend to destroy.”

Fine - I have a modest proposal. Suppose we ban actors with a serious safety violation on their records from ever touching a firearm on set again? We could even call it the Alec Baldwin Rule.

You do you, Alec. We will be responsible for our own guns, even without your free advice.

Baldwin reminds me of the SDS hippie woman beater in Forrest Gump who blames his rage on LBJ.

How surprising that Baldwin would recommend punishing the innocent due to his incompetent malfeasance, which he is dumb enough to admit is rarely matched. He is in no position to give advice on anything, except being a loser, and should just go away.

Follow these two concepts and there will be no more accidental shootings in movieland:
1) Require that everyone on a movie set be taught that you always assume a firearm is loaded with live ammunition until proved otherwise; that you never, ever point a firearm at anything you do not want to shoot/seriously harm/kill; and, while on the set, you never pull the trigger on a firearm while it’s pointed at any living thing. It is easy to fake the angles on camera. Oh, all this is standard procedure already, but Baldwin ignored it because he’s special.
2) Make an example of the one-in-ten-million offenders like Baldwin by prosecuting them criminally, with long sentences and heavy fines for those found guilty. Continued movie careers should be unthinkable. Subject the offenders personally to enormous civil damages. That includes any who allowed a culture of carelessness among their employees and did nothing.

His next production should be a play from prison.

So again it is the gun at fault! How about the idiot weilding the gun. It didn’t just jump up and start firing, someone (Baldwin) was in control.

The problem isn’t the firearm. The problem is with the human mishandling of the firearm.

Or, alternatively...follow me, here...we establish and adhere to strict safety protocols. Just a thought.

.
I don’t know if there’s enough boutique stores in New England, NYC, and Santa Fe to cure Alec’s grief.

He has a tough road (or rodeo drive) ahead.

Also, I meant to mention that in the podcast I linked SL Huang very much disagrees that guns in movies are the problem. She explains how it is intense safety and knowledge of firearms and helping directors set up shots for safety’s sake and getting the best shot possible that are what should be learned.

Obliquely blaming the gun?

One wonders a couple of things.

First, precisely what are the safety protocols currently in place for control of prop firearms? (And, do they include show persons' familiarity with the operation and safety rules for any and all firearms used)?

and, Second, does Mister Baldwin own any firearms (or has he ever owned firearms)? If the answer is "yes", then he has no defense, as he should be presumed to know thoroughly the rules and procedures.
