No one has been charged in the fatal shooting, and Mary Carmack-Altwies, district attorney of Santa Fe County, New Mexico, has highlighted the complexity of the situation.

"We don't know how those live rounds got there," she told CNN. "And I think that that will probably end up being kind of the linchpin for whether a decision is made about charges."

Yup. She’s the freaking ARMORER. Her job is to keep track of the weapons and anything they use.

She’s also a young modern american woman, so nothing is her fault or responsibility.

Yup. Too many here put the responsibility on someone other than the person who pulled the trigger. The shooter is responsible for safe gun handling, not the person across the room.

They both have responsibility. its not an either-or situation here.

He might. I just can’t see it. Recall that John Landis was charged after the incident while making the Twilight Zone. He walked, but he did get charged.

There are lots of criminal charges to choose from: manslaughter, negligent discharge, reckless endangerment.

Ultimately a jury will decide.

I suspect a lot of people can be charged with various crimes, if the DA wants to. Of course the civil lawsuits can also be huge. I would expect A B is already trying to come to some kind of private settlement with the family of the woman he shoot and with other that he just wounded. Settlements probably involve some complex nondisclosure agreements.

I saw a recent post of Abe Lincoln saying “Never trust an actor with a handgun.” Very timely.

This was clearly negligent discharge at a minimum. If so it really doesn't matter who loaded the firearm

“We don’t know how those live rounds got there,” she told CNN. “And I think that that will probably end up being kind of the linchpin for whether a decision is made about charges.”

There are at least two people who are chargable irrespective of how the bullet got in there. A third, the ditz armorer, may not have been allowed on the set due to some Covid rule or other. Conclusion: They don’t want to charge. There will be no charges.

...and the armorer didn’t check the gun before she handed it to Baldwin.

It has been testified that the Assistant Director was the person that took the gun off of the armorer's table, brought it into the building where they were rehearsing, and handed the gun to Baldwin.   No mention of the armorer in that statement.   I made me wonder if the armorer was even aware of what happened leading up to the shooting.

It’s not like the loaded gun was handed over to chimp to see what would happen... but it might as well had been.

I’m beginning wonder if it will turn out like a Hitchcock film.

It would not surprise me if it turned out to be union sabotage. Remember they walked out the day before. One of them could have loaded the gun and left it on the gun tray. An accidental discharge of live ammo could have shut down production.

Unions have done stuff like that before. See:

Lots of web pages showed a fancy front loader black powder revolver. This was just to have a illustration for their article.

The actual pistol was “That firearm was a F.lli Pietta long Colt 45 revolver,”
A cartridge firearm.

Nobody takes responsibility for anything anymore. Always somebody’s else’s fault. Liberalism in a nutshell

Yep, the feminization of everything. Take away reason and RESPONSIBILITY. Years ago some grown experienced RESPONSIBLE man would have been in charge and if something like this happened he’d be screwed good and fast because that is what he was there for. He’d have known It and made damn sure things went right.

I was at an amusement park that had staged gunfights. Kids were encouraged to bring their toy guns and play along.

Men walking around with holstered pistols. A quick look showed them to be black powder revolvers with the nipples removed.

For the actual shoot out with blanks, on the roof, when one emptied his revolver he shucked the shells, and I saw they were all colored BLACK. Not brass colored at all.

It’s the person who pulled the trigger’s fault.

That was my first thought when I heard about the poor Lady’s death. I grew up in Detroit when it was known as the Motor City. My Dad was an Assemblyman and part of General Motors UAW Union. I have heard how brutal they can be to bend fate their way. I never knew how much was real and how much was workplace folklore.
