Standing in front of a judge at 17, Veronika Granado said she felt numb as she asked him to grant her a judicial bypass, which would allow her, as a minor, to get an abortion without parental consent or notification.
For Granado, who had just graduated high school, terminating the pregnancy would allow her to continue her education without being a young mother at the same time.
"My future was on the line," Granado said. "He could have easily said no, and that would have been devastating."
Now 22 and a third-year student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Granado said she was lucky to have obtained an abortion in 2017. Pregnant minors in Texas now face a much different landscape after the state's new restrictive abortion law, known as S.B. 8, went into effect on Sept. 1.
The law prohibits abortion once cardiac activity is detected, usually around six weeks. Because many women don't know they're pregnant at that point, abortion advocates have said the law effectively bans abortion statewide. A federal judge has scheduled a hearing Friday to consider a request from the Justice Department to issue a temporary restraining order to block enforcement of the law.

They can’t make up their minds what they really want or believe in, so what’s the use of trying to talk any sense to them?
Funny how putting the baby up for adoption is never an option. I say if you abort a child, you get sterized, because you are too stupid to take responsibility for your own dumbass actions!
Demonizing men in general, and fathers in specific, is the primary path to pro-abortion ideology.
When the fathers of the babies are dehumanized as presumptively negative, the babies can be dehumanized as presumptively negative by virtue of genetic inheritance, paving the path for their mothers to kill them.

I see all the sex education, free condoms and free birth control is working as well as reading, writing, math and civics.
I’m afraid that would all be over their heads...

Someday scientists are going to figure out what causes pregnancy and ways to prevent it before women have to resort to this.

And within the same lot, these “strong, independent women” (TM) Translation: women who have kicked the father to the curb either through divorce or serial fornication, yet also demanding up to 50% of his gross pay through the nod of the gov’t agencies and “child” support for the next 18-24 years and beyond.
I laugh when people are up in arms about the left thinking of taxing investment gains that aren’t yet sold or could drop in value, yet IMPUTING a father’s income has been around since the 80’s (thanks to Bill and Hill). The “child” support magistrate says to the recently laid off father “you could be making $XYZ so we will base child support off of that figure despite the fact you are presently laid off; interest and penalties will accrue.”
What about a downward modification, you ask? Getting one of those for a FATHER is near impossible as the Feds give kick backs to the local “child” (matriarchy) support agencies for highest amount ordered and collected.
On the other hand, if you happen to be a “career” jet setting woman making a nice living and want to walk away from your children, the magistrate will impose false chivalry and see to it that she doesn’t pay a cent in child support to the custodial father. Female privilege.
And it’s been like this for almost four decades now.
