Candace Owens made a shocking statement about monkeys used in Fauci’s cruel experiments

Reading through Fauci’s experiments and the one I find most alarming is the use of an acid to destroy a region of monkeys’ brains to magnify terror. They then simulated images of spiders and tormented them with fear. Human DNA is 97% identical to apes. Why fund that research?

I was obviously responding to your reflexive defense of this latest revelation of Fauci’s cruelty.
To: Varda; null and void
Not a good analogy. American companies bought product/ingredients from Chinese businesses.
My analogy was good enough for the point I was trying to make, that the sovereign in Red China is the Communist Chinese regime and that lying, stealing and cheating are standard operating procedure.
Null and Void's example of FDA inspectors being dismissed from chicken inspection meets the "on site inspectors" contention.

Given the hypocrisy of leftists, Fauci will probably be given awards for humane treatment of animals.

You were responding to nothing since you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Differentiating between funding a project and buying a product is the point. You are comparing apples to oranges. The Chinese are another issue. Yes, lying cheating and stealing is their MO but yet America has strong economic entanglements. That's why funding research projects there should be heavily monitored or not done at all.

My point, again, in Red China they are sovereign, and the essential control is outside of U.S. hands regardless of the activity taking place. It is much easier for a Fauci type to purposefully turn a blind eye to abuses over there, reducing the odds of getting caught, or invoking plausible deniability of need be.
We cannot effectively monitor and control, so we are best off not doing research over there at all, as you suggested as an option.

You did not answer the question. Answer it
So should we be funding such "medical research" overseas where those federal laws can't be effectively enforced?

Do you feel the same about the sandflies eating the faces of Beagle puppies with cages around their face—sur who’ve had their larynx removed so they cannot whine or bark during their torture?
Let’s not judge because we don’t know his intent?!?! /SARC

Nice attempt at deflection.
I asked you a direct yes-no question, you did not answer it.
Instead, you replied with a comment that had nothing to do with what I asked you.

The Silver Springs monkey trial was the event that turned PETA into a national force. They targeted the research of a Dr. Taub whose research discovered neuroplasticity (brain restructuring).
https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg12517050-700-nerve-discovery-confuses-debate-on-laboratory-monkeys
Following on that was more research with the target of helping brain damaged individuals of whom stroke patients are a large portion. Brain plasticity and rehabilitation in stroke patients

You are attempt to conflate two totally different research projects.
That is intellectually dishonest

Getting rid of Fauci is a good goal but there is such a thing as throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Fauci can't really escape being at fault for funding bad research even if it's in China. Those that fund the projects make the rules.
So far nobody has posted exactly what the research on the monkeys is. They are causing brain damage. The monkeys are being tortured. Guess what, the accusation is eerily similar to the story I posted about in post #55 and the reactions to it were like the reactions on this thread, just as PETA would like.

I posted about in post #55 and the reactions to it were like the reactions on this thread, just as PETA would like.
You can be against certain kinds of treatment of certain animals without buying into PETA's agenda.
PETA says that animals have inherent rights, which is silly because animals don't enforce them against each other, but PETA wants to unilaterally enforce them against humans.
Conservatives, Christianity and Western Civilization asserts that we have dominion over the animals, but we have a responsibility to be humane. Most people in these groups raise the bar for humane treatment depending on sentience level and in some cases the tameness or relationship of the animal to man.
So, it is nothing to squish a Daddy-Long-Legs because it annoys you, but it is "wrong" to pick the legs off because you feel like it.
It is not an issue to put a live lobster, with it crude ganglia into a pot of boiling water for a tasty meal, but we wouldn't do it to a rabbit, and most of us would not do it to a turtle, even if it won't be quite as tasty killed first.
Eating dogs and cats is considered out of bounds in the west, as are horses for the most part in the U.S. (though not in France).
Having dogs and even roosters fight to the death for mere gambling and entertainment, is certainly different than testing surgical staples on dogs (a big PETA issue years ago).
Personally, I do not care for the treatment of hens in factory farming, because I think the increased efficiency and cost reduction is more than offset by what I see as unnecessarily cruel treatment to the birds for an insufficient reason. Men of good will can disagree with me on that, and other than preferring eggs from chicken who are treated better, I make no lifestyle changes, and it is about #300 on my list of things wrong with the world.
So, I think that torturing monkeys and dogs for medical research for anything short of finding a cure for cancer or diabetes or something along those lines can be considered torture by people who are NOT PETA supporters. It all depends on the underlying reasons. I will not allow PETA dictate my reasoning on these things. I apply principles independent of their stand.

A. The funding source make the rules. That means even if the research is in China, the funder approves the method of research. There is nothing Fauci can do to claim he can’t monitor what’s going on. It’s the funders call from the beginning.
B. Post 18 should have been clearer. It is another story of brain research that the public was convinced was just torture and couldn’t figure out it’s purpose. Brain research in monkeys has been going on a long time.
C. Medical research involves animals suffering.

Everything you've said there is reasonable. My point is that unless we know precisely what's being investigated all we have is an emotional accusation of torture. An accusation that's been made before with the goal of making medical research more difficult.
The fact is a lot of animals have suffered and died for our medical advances. Some of it is pretty gruesome stuff. I am glad however for the spectacular advances I've seen over the years.
