Orwell, in 1984, teaches us that the Leftist Party will not be satisfied until Republican Congresspersons Jim Banks and Marjorie Taylor Greene, and all their GOP colleagues, agree that R. Levine is a woman.
On learning that Twitter sanctioned Rep. Jim Banks for daring to refer to Assistant Secretary of Health R. Levine as a man (and that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also referred, but without sanction, to Dr. Levine as a man) I turned, for insight on this peculiar assault on the concept of objective reality, to a classic novel on the nature of totalitarianism: 1984, by George Orwell. Here are, I believe, relevant passages from the novel, from a torture scene, with torture applied to Winston Smith by O'Brien.

There were a few books we had to read in high school that I flat out forgot about. Most of the required reading meant going to the bookstore and getting a copy of Cliff Notes.
But 1984 and Animal Farm were the exception. I read both, end to end.
The Lives of Others is another creepy-ass big brother film people should watch.

The Hero in ‘Lives of Others’ was entirely fictional. No such inside man who resisted like that existed in East Germany.
Fair enough, but the Stasi’s pervasive surveillance and coercive control methods are accurately portrayed. That is what I was referring to.
Like William F Buckley I really enjoyed the movie. I was disappointed to find out the Hero had no counterpart in reality. Like Schindler’s List without Schindler.
