Agreed, “kill” if it is self-defense or hunting, but “shoot” if it is a target / target practice.

Do you know how to load and unload a single action Colt revolver. Do you know the difference in a blank cartridge, a wadcutter hard load, and a round nose bullet cartridge? Bottom line to me. You ain’t important enough at any level to take a loaded firearm on faith. You own the responsibility to check it and be safe operating it.
I don’t think anyone in the media understands what a “misfire” is. It means the gun didn’t fire when the trigger is pulled.

The ABC execs had the gun fired at an angle because they feared audience members might have heart attacks.
Seemed to function just fine and didn’t miss what Baldwin was aiming at.
You know this was a screwup of epic proportions when you consider how many movies, tv shows, have had gun shooting scenes over the past 80 years and this DID NOT HAPPEN in those several million scenes.
Baldwin shot out of anger and not part of the script? He is toast.

I don’t dispute at all that Baldwin is an idiot and is responsible for his actions. Did he have a safe direction to “fire” in the scene? Even a blank can be dangerous. He probably didn’t even care or think of it.
Whoever loaded this gun with a real bullet is a moron and a murderer, too, though. I don’t expect that it was Baldwin, and that means there is a murderer running around loose. Baldwin’s stupidity isn’t an excuse for him to go free.

The early 1950's Superman series showed Superman confident of not getting hurt when shot at by criminals, although he was known to duck when a gun was thrown at him. An actor now would be hesitant in any scene with Alec Baldwin holding a gun, even Superman.
I know the difference between a blank cartridge a bullet cartridge (round lead, FMJ, hollow point, etc). What is a "wadcutter hard load"?
Also, seems no one is sure if this 1850's single action revolver was a "cap and ball" pistol which would complicate things for Baldwin to check. Movies often use those with black powder to get the big smoke effect when firing, so I've read.
Still with what the crew has stated about previous "discharges", Baldwin should have been leary of the weapon handed to him. As the principle writer, power producer, and lead actor, it was his movie. There is no excuse for no investigation of the 2 discharges by his stunt double, if that's true.
Plus, whoever hired that 24 yrs girl as armorer was part of the problem. Supposedly, she placed 3 pistols on a cart and lost chain-of-custody. By credible sources, the assistant director picked up one of those 3 and handed it to Baldwin.
I don’t care what his PR spin machine puts out. I don’t care if someone told him it was a “cold gun.” I don’t care that it was a “prop gun,” whatever that means. Arik should never have pointed it at that woman. One of the fundamental rules of gun safety is never point a gun at another person unless you intend to shoot them, whether you think it’s loaded or not.
Barwin and his ilk think they know everything about everything which is why they feel entitled to tell the rest of us how to live our lives. But no one ever taught him the rules of gun safety??? You don’t even need to be taught them as they are just common sense.
