You must be a died-in-the-wool Delusional Leftist who projects your issues on others. If you’re not a troll you must be a robot. Are you a robot? You should change your handle from “PIF” to “POOF” because you’re not even there.

Well, I’ll tell ya, you’ve made it to my “No Fly Zone” list in record time there Mr. Poof. I’ll do whatever I can to avoid answering any of your comments because you are an utter and complete waste of time.

You are described on the list as, “Obvious he’s parroting what he knows nothing about, offering no evidence or rationale with his assertions. An idiot.”

Good job. You earned it. BTW, FYI, I’ve notice those who make it to my “No Fly Zone” usually don’t last long on FR. Haven’t seen you around so maybe you’re new but I doubt you’ll be around long.

Rots a Ruck.

—”If someone not driving but using an autopilot feature crosses the line and collides head on with a car, killing the family, then who is at fault?”

The Full Self Driving (FSD) scale, zero =full manual to five = full auto, no user inputs.
The current state of the art is Level Three, which still requires a human override.

IIRC Lv 3 is only sold in Japan by Honda and is for slow local traffic only.

For Tesla to call their cruise control assist AUTOPILOT was marketing genius but also attracts the idiots.

FSD Lv 5 will not have a steering wheel or pedals.

Until Lv 5, it will always be a driver error.

Everything is always somebody else’s fault and the lawyers will track them down for a fee.
One of the many reasons the Chinese are eating our lunch.

But I saw an ad on the television for a truck (I think a Chevy) where the “driver” was clapping his hands. The truck appeared to be passing another vehicle with no interaction from the “driver”.

Is that not real?

Not at all, but nice try Dork. I had no problem putting you on my “No Fly Zone” list. Probably won’t be hearing from you too much there Mr. Poof. Either way, I’ve already forgotten about you, because you’re not even there.

HHAHAHAHA

All that I have seen require a hand on the wheel.
So I looked around...

“With an attentive driver, and under the proper conditions, Super Cruise-equipped vehicles can permit hands-free operation of the vehicle.”

If it detects a driver falling asleep at the wheel or texting while driving, it will audibly warn them to take control. Since Super Cruise is only a Level 2 system, not Level 3, it can not think for itself by passing slower traffic or following a navigation route

monitors eye gaze and head position

If I read it correctly only on interstate highways.

Something new every day thanks.

Under most circumstances I’d agree with you. One important caveat when it comes to motor vehicles is that they’re subject to government oversight pretty much out of necessity. Unlike light bulbs (a good example you provided), they are registered through state governments and operate on public roads. I don’t see how you can avoid some level of government oversight that you wouldn’t need for most other products, services, transactions, etc.

I agree that government oversight can sometimes be a good thing - even necessary.

However, your use of the word “oversight” got me thinking…

Oversight doesn’t necessarily imply action. The government could theoretically watch over a private sector industry and measure its behavior and impacts against various standards… and as long as that industry was behaving itself, it could be left alone.

If the government ONLY interfered when it was good and necessary to do so, then I would have no complaints.

But the government has way too much power, and power corrupts.

The government is no longer what the Constitution designed it to be: Of the People, By the People and For the People.

The government is now an enforcement arm for whoever corrupted it…corporate lobbyists, special interests, Marxists.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could trust the government to interfere only when it is truly for the good?
